Odds to Win the Wyndham Championship

The backdrop of the 5th hole tee box of the Wyndham Championship on August 19, 2018 at Sedgefield Country Club, Greensboro, NC.

For the first time since winning the Claret Jug at the 2019 Open Championship, Shane Lowry will tee it up at the Wyndham Championship in a field that will have no shortage of motivation for FedExCup points.

Webb Simpson is the +900 favorite to emerge triumphant at Bovada, with Collin Morikawa (+1400), Hideki Matsuyama (+1400), Jordan Spieth (+1400), Brandt Snedeker (+2200), Patrick Reed (+2200), Paul Casey (+2200), Viktor Hovland (+2500), Billy Horschel (+2800) and Cameron Smith (+3300) rounding out the top 10.

To find out which three players I’m picking to win this week, check out my PGA Tour Expert Picks article.

Brandt Snedeker’s 59 at last year’s tournament is the 18-hole record at Sedgefield.

In total, nine of the top 30 players in the FedExCup points race will be in attendance at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Wyndham is the last chance for golfers to qualify for the FedExCup playoffs, which begin next week at the Northern Trust. Thirteen men are lurking within 50 points of the cut-off line, with Richy Werenski (124th), Patton Kizzire (125th) and Daniel Berger (126th) especially on the bubble.

Last-Chance Time for FedExCup Points

Since the FedExCup playoffs began in 2007, an average of 2.7 players have gained a last-chance playoff spot at the Wyndham Championship. Four men have come to North Carolina ranked 140th or lower in the standings and left with a postseason berth.

Snedeker is back to retain his title after winning here a year ago when he became the eighth champion in the past 11 editions to close out a 54-hole lead. The American opened the tournament with a 59 on Thursday en route to a three-shot victory over C.T. Pan at 21 under.

The course, a 7,127-yard par 70, has been a staple on the PGA Tour for the last 12 years despite opening all the way back in 1925. Snedeker’s 59 a year ago stands as the 18-hole record, while Henrik Stenson’s 258 in 2017 serves as the 72-hole record.
