Indiana vs Illinois Pick Today

Illinois -10.5, -110 at FanDuel

Illinois has only dropped five games all year, and two of them have come in back-to-back outings. However, I like the Fighting Illini to bounce back with a win. Illinois is 8-2 SU and 6-4 in its last 10 games, according to our college basketball betting database. The program is also 9-1 SU and 5-5 ATS in its last 10 games when favored by at least 10 points. That stretch includes wins of 40, 19, 26, 35, and 40. The other four outright wins came by nine, 10, eight, and 14 points. That means they would've covered 10.5 points in six games, and they'd be just one or two baskets away from doing so in the three others.

Indiana's squad is above average in both scoring offense and defense, but Illinois is better on both ends. The Hoosiers are averaging 3.2 fewer points per game on offense, and they've allowed 2.5 more on offense. They've scored 80 or more points just three times over their last 10 games, though, despite averaging more than 80 on the season. One of those outings required overtime to go over 80. The Hoosiers are 5-5 SU and ATS across those 10 contests, according to our database, though they're only 1-2 ATS in their last three.

Illinois, on the other hand, has fielded a more consistent offense. It's put up at least 82 points in five of its last seven, and it's averaged 83.7 per game during that stretch. That's just one point shy of the Fighting Illini's 84.7 PPG average, which ranks 27th in the nation. The defense is 63rd, allowing 68.9 per contest this year.

Illinois has shown they can win big, even when they're favored by double digits, and guard Keaton Wagler (scoring prop: O/U 20.5 points) has played a big role, leading the team with 18.5 PPG. Wagler has been even more effective recently, averaging 26.5 per game over his last six. Another big performance from him would go a long way in helping Illinois cover.

Be sure to check all of the sportsbooks available to you to ensure you're getting the best possible value. Illinois has moved to an 8.5-point -120 favorite at FanDuel.

Part of what makes Wagler a scoring threat, especially in recent games, is his proficiency from deep. He's connected on at least three triples in four of his last six games. He leads the Big Ten witha 43.7% three-point shooting percentage, making an average of 2.6 treys on six attempts per game.
