It’s Tiger’s event, but it won’t have Tiger Woods—the 15-time major champion withdrew from the tournament on Monday, in the wake of his mother’s passing. And the Genesis Invitational won’t have its traditional layout at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., an area recently devastated by wildfires.
But the Genesis remains a Signature Event on the PGA Tour’s schedule, and will host a stacked field led by world No. 1 and +400 odds favorite at Sportsbook, Scottie Scheffler. And the location has shifted a few hours south to Torrey Pines in San Diego, host of two U.S. Opens and where Harris English won the Farmers Insurance Open three weeks ago.
Rory McIlroy, who won the tour’s most recent Signature Event at Pebble Peach, is right behind Scheffler at +650 on the odds board. Hideki Matsuyama is defending champion, but of course claimed that title at Riviera, not Torrey Pines. In total the relocated event will host 46 of the top 50 players in the world, with world No. 2 Xander Schauffele the most notable absentee as he continues to recover from a rib injury,

Collin Morikawa To Win (+1400) at Sportsbook
The two-time major champion continues to play well, but not quite well enough to record his first tournament victory since a Japanese event in late 2023. Eventually, that has to change. Morikawa was solid in the first two Signature Events of the year, with a runner-up at The Sentry and a T17 at Pebble Beach. The Southern California native has finished as high as third at Torrey in the Farmers, and was T4 at the 2021 U.S. Open contested there.
Sungjae Im Top-5 Finish (+500) at Sportsbook
Already this season, we’ve witnessed the polar extremes of Sungjae Im. He already owns a pair of top-four finishes, which no other player on tour can claim, but he’s also been well off the pace the past two weeks at Pebble and Phoenix. Torrey Pines, though, clearly fits the South Korean—Im has been T6 or better in three of his last four starts in San Diego, including a T4 at the Farmers earlier this season.
Cam Davis Top-10 Finish (+500) at Sportsbook
That’s great value on a player who’s enjoying a very good early season, with a T13 and a T5 in the first two Signature Events to date. In the three tournaments in which Davis has made the cut, his average finish is 12th. While his record isn’t great in San Diego, the lanky Australian hasn’t played Torrey Pines since 2023, and he’s still made the cut in five of six Farmers appearances.
PGA Tour Genesis Invitational Betting Tips
After posting a T9 at Pebble Beach in his first start after returning from hand surgery, Scheffler took a step back last week at Phoenix with a closing 72 that relegated him to 25th place. The world No. 1 hasn’t played Torrey Pines since 2022, when he posted a T20 at the Farmers (the only time he’s made the cut in three appearances), though he was T7 in the 2021 U.S. Open there won by Jon Rahm.
Also finishing T7 in that tournament was McIlroy, whose Saturday 67 tied for the low round of the week. McIlroy has an average result of 8.0 in three previous Farmers appearances (with a best finish of T3), though none of those have been since 2021. It’s hard to argue with his results in 2025, though: a T4 in Dubai to go along with his victory at Pebble Beach, and an average round score of 67.8 over those two events.
Justin Thomas (+1800) continues to show signs of a comeback with a solo second at the AMEX and a T6 at Phoenix, but he’s yet to truly contend this season in a Signature Event. Same for Justin Spieth (+4500), T4 last week in Phoenix, and on the mend from wrist surgery. Value options include Sepp Straka (+4500), who’s been first, seventh and 15th over his past three starts, and English (+7000), who in addition to his Farmers title was third in 2021 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines.
