The third iteration of “The Match: Champions for Change” is scheduled to go down tomorrow, November 27. It marks the first time the celebrity golf match will not include Tiger Woods. Odds for The Match 3 have been released, so let’s take a look at who is the favorite to win the big charity golf event.

Phil Mickelson makes his return as the only pro golfer in the field, having won The Match: Tiger vs Phil straight up before losing the second event earlier this year with partner Tom Brady. The duo dropped a tight contest to Woods and Peyton Manning in May.
For this version of The Match, Mickelson will pair up with NBA legend Charles Barkley, who was a guest analyst for the two previous events. They will face off against returning champion Peyton Manning and two-time NBA MVP and scratch golfer Stephen Curry.
Sportsbooks are giving Curry and Manning -165 odds to win The Match 3: Champions for Change, with Mickelson and Barkley coming back as +130 underdogs.

Rules & Format
The third edition of the live charity event is officially set for tomorrow, Friday, November 27, the day after American Thanksgiving, at Stone Canyon Golf Club in Oro Valley, Arizona.
The competition format will be modified alternate-shot match play.
The event will contribute to and highlight diversity, equality, and inclusion through donations to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), while raising awareness and spotlighting opportunities for diversity and equality in sports. It is a cause that all four athletes have supported throughout their careers, which ultimately led to the foursome teaming up for the event.
The Match will be hosted by play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson alongside Trevor Immelman and Andre Iguodala, with on-course reporters Cheyenne Woods and Gary McCord. Additionally, Eli Manning will be part of the pre-game show alongside LPGA star Michelle Wie.
Curry and Manning are the Betting Favorites
Curry, known most notably to hit long-range three-pointers in the NBA, is actually a scratch golfer, which is a big reason why he and Manning are The Match 3 odds favorites at -165.
The Golden State Warriors superstar has a history of playing at the American Century Championship celebrity tournament and at two events on the Korn Ferry Tour, which is the minors of the PGA, just one step down from the PGA Tour. Although Curry has yet to make the cut at the Korn Ferry, he still fares pretty well for someone who does not play golf as his primary sport.
Manning managed to play decently during the Match event in May, making a few pars and hitting some really good drives off the tee. According to the USGA’s Handicap Information Network, the quarterback-turned-golfer has a 6.4 handicap.
Curry and Manning own the best odds to win The Match 3, and the alternate-shot format should benefit them to be in control the whole round.
Mickelson and Barkley Should Keep Things Close
Mickelson has been playing some of his best golf of late, winning for the second time in as many starts on the PGA Tour Champions circuit and then finishing tied for 55th at the Masters. His partner Charles Barkley is known for having one of the wackiest golf swings, but Mickelson is excited to team up with the NBA on TNT analyst.
“While we may need a handicap for Chuck, I’m looking forward to playing with Peyton and Stephen and to help raise money for another important cause,” said Mickelson.
As the only pro golfer at the event, and at a course that he owns, it is a little surprising that Mickelson and Barkley are the underdogs at +130 odds to win The Match 3: Champions for Change. Barkley has not played in a competitive golf tournament since July at the American Century Championship, where he was only able to make three pars and finished second to last.
Expect Mickelson to do all of the heavy lifting, with Barkley making a few decent shots, and the duo able to compete till the very end.
Prediction: Manning and Curry (-165) win 2 up
I predict that the duo of Curry and Manning will be in front after nine holes, and will not relinquish their lead after that. In a charity golf format, I think Mickelson will be able to muster enough good shots to make sure that he and Barkley stay close throughout the match but ultimately they will fall short of coming away with the win.
As poorly as I think Barkley will play, I actually think he will come up with some big shots on the back nine, allowing him and Mickelson to be in a position to win. Overall, I do think it will be a tight match with Mickelson and Barkley battling their way through the course, only to eventually lose on the 17th hole.

The Match 2 Bode Well For Charity and Sports
The Match 2 took place on May 24, and it was one of the most-watched events during the pandemic. It featured Manning with Woods and Tom Brady with Mickelson, and raised $20 million for COVID-19 relief efforts, with all four players showcasing their athletic and comedic prowess.
The duo of Woods and Manning won three of the first six holes to take an early lead, but Mickelson and Brady made it interesting on the back nine, picking up wins on Hole 11 and Hole 14 to make it a one-hole game down the stretch. The highlight of the match came when Brady dropped an eagle in on a par 5 from the fairway after Barkley – who was an analyst for the match – was taking shots at his golf game.
In the end, Manning and Woods -185 would end up narrowly edging out Brady and Mickelson +150.
The Original Match Provided Great Content
Back in 2018, Mickelson and Woods came together for a $10-million Sportsbook-take-all televised tournament. Woods was the favorite at -190, with Mickelson coming back as the +165 underdog.
While it didn’t garner the same kind of attention as the most recent version of the Match, the two golfers played highly competitive golf that resulted in a tie after the 18th hole. Woods and Mickelson continued to play until a Sportsbook was declared, with Lefty eventually pulling away on the 22nd hole to win the big purse.
