Indiana Eyes First Win Over Michigan Since 1987

The No. 13 Indiana Hoosiers are 0-24 SU in their last 24 games against the No. 23 Michigan Wolverines. Their last win against Michigan came back in 1987 when the Hoosiers pulled off a 14-10 upset at home. Going off as just 3-point underdogs on Saturday, the Hoosiers have their best chance in years to end this long slump against their Big Ten rivals.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Since Sportsbook as 3.5-point favorites, the Wolverines have been bet down to -3 as early bettors took the points on the Hoosiers. Saturday afternoon’s total is set at 55.5 points. Indiana is 2-1-1 ATS in its last four home games against the Wolverines.

Michigan News & Notes

Michigan’s offense looked so crisp in a 49-24 season-Sportsbook win against the Minnesota Golden Gophers that last Saturday’s game against the Michigan State Spartans was supposed to be an easy win with the Wolverines going off as 21.5-point home favorites.

But after rushing for 256 yards on 31 carries against the Golden Gophers, the Wolverines rushed for only 152 yards on 34 carries in a stunning 27-24 loss to the Spartans.

And just like that, Michigan fell 10 spots in the AP Top 25 poll and went from the contender conversation to being just a 3-point favorite against the Hoosiers on Saturday.

Joe Milton has looked solid at quarterback, but the Wolverines aren’t built to win on offense. This defense needs to find its form in a hurry before this short season begins to unravel.

Indiana News & Notes

Indiana announced itself as a contender in the Big Ten with an impressive 36-35 upset win over the Penn State Nittany Lions in its first game of the season. Last week’s 37-21 win on the road over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights was an impressive one too as the team didn’t get caught in a letdown after the big Penn State win or looking ahead to this matchup against Michigan.

Sophomore quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has looked good with 408 passing yards, four touchdown passes and only one interception. But both he and running back Stevie Scott III have significant room for improvement this season based on their averages from last year. Seeing as the Hoosiers are already averaging 36.5 points per game, it’s an exciting time for Indiana fans when the best still may be yet to come for this offense.

Betting Pick: OVER 55.5 points

Michigan’s defense just hasn’t looked like the elite unit we’ve seen in recent years. With that in mind, Saturday’s game may end up being a competitive shootout, sending the game OVER the posted total in the process.
