MLB Player Props Today: May 5, 2025

Today's MLB player props stay in the Bronx, with two picks on Yankees hitters. I'm going one pitcher prop and one homer prop to start the week.

Carlos Rodon OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (-118 at FanDuel)

These are great odds, so we can start there as my justification for Rodon's OVER today. I'm betting on him to start well in my NRFI picks today, so it's only logical I back his strikeout prop, too, using the same logic.

Rodon has dominated Padres hitters in the past to a tune of a .586 OPS with just a .293 SLG. This speaks to his ability to limit contact and power. Best of all, the strikeout numbers flow against SDP. Rodon has struck out Luis Arraez four times in eight at-bats, which is impressive, and he also boasts seven Ks in 19 at-bats vs Manny Machado.

Rodon has cashed this prop in five straight contests. The groundwork is all there for six in a row.

Aaron Judge to Hit a Home Run (+200 at Sportsbook)

I'm hoping Judge saves the homer ball for the second inning, but I can't deny his splits against Padres starter Nick Pivetta. Judge is 5-for-18 with two bombs and five walks compared to four strikeouts. Judge has just generally been on a Barry Bonds-like pace with 11 homers this season, including four in his last seven games.

The matchup is here, and the odds are still worth the risk at +200. Nothing seems to slow down the reigning AL MVP, who has 55 hits in 34 games this season.
