Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics

NBA Player Props Today: Brown Must Step Up With PRA In Game 5 vs Knicks

Both the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves can cement their spots in the conference finals with victories over the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, respectively, on Wednesday night in the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Here are four expert player prop picks for those matchups, including a PRA (points + rebounds + assists) prop for Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (-112) at TD Garden on May 14.

Jaylen Brown OVER 37.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists vs. Knicks (-112 at FanDuel)

Preview: New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics, 7 p.m. ET

Based on his recent history, there's no reason why anyone should willingly want to bet an OVER in the PRA market for Brown, as he's only exceeded Wednesday's 37.5 prop one time in the playoffs which came in Game 2 of the first round against the Orlando Magic (36 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists). I even found success taking the UNDER on 31.5 in Game 4 knowing that last year's Finals Most Valuable Player had gone UNDER in six of his prior eight meetings with the Knicks heading into Monday's action. He finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in 32 minutes to connect at plus money (+100).

So why take this risk then? Well, with Jayson Tatum suffering what appeared to be a serious ankle/Achilles injury which presumably will keep him out for a long period of time, the other $300-million man on the roster in Brown has to be the one to step up his game with the Celtics' repeat bid on the line. There were seven instances during the regular season in which Brown competed without Tatum by his side, and during those games, he ended up averaging 22.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists with an OVER on a 37.5 PRA three times. Head coach Joe Mazzulla has only been going seven players deep with his rotation, so with no Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis still dealing with a mystery illness, Brown needs a monster box score with the pressure at its highest simply out of necessity.

Jalen Brunson OVER 2.5 Made 3-Pointers vs. Celtics (-114 at FanDuel)

Preview: New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics, 7 p.m. ET

The 2025 Clutch Player of the Year has been just that and then some in this series. At times, New York is almost too reliant on Jalen Brunson to produce offensively considering the level of talent around him who are more than capable, but if you've been consistently wagering on his production, you're not complaining. The last time the Knicks were in a potential closeout game in the first round versus the Detroit Pistons, Brunson dropped 40 points at Little Caesars Arena on 33 shot attempts, so he's already demonstrated the killer instinct required this postseason to send an opponent packing.

In the context of this particular prop for 2.5 made 3-pointers, Brunson has toppled that in three of the four games against what's now an incredibly vulnerable Celtics squad, having converted 41.2 percent from behind the arc while averaging 3.5 triples per contest. He hasn't attempted fewer than eight 3-pointers once this series, and despite having the likes of Derrick White and Jrue Holiday draped all over him, that aforementioned efficiency of his has been rock solid. Brunson will be out for blood in Game 5 knowing Boston is on the ropes, and that should result in a healthy dose of 3-pointers.

Julius Randle OVER 29.5 Points + Rebounds vs. Warriors (-106 at FanDuel)

Preview: Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, 9:30 p.m. ET

The Warriors haven't figured out a means to stop Julius Randle, who an argument can be made for being Minnesota's best player in this best-of-seven series, even more so than superstar wing Anthony Edwards. Randle is producing 24.3 points on 48.6-percent shooting, 6.3 rebounds, eight assists, and a steal through four games, and is just coming off a 31-point display at the Chase Center on Monday with the Timberwolves pushing Golden State to the brink of elimination with a 117-110 victory.

I went OVER that night on a combination prop of 26.5 points and assists, which Randle easily beat through his offense alone. He's grabbed five or more boards in four of his last five playoff games, as well, with his points and rebounds total having steadily risen from 31 to 34 and most recently 36 over his last three appearances. It's been said to death, but the Warriors' undersized frontcourt can be both a blessing and a curse. It's great if you're looking to play fast and run opposing giants off the floor, but more traditional bigs like Randle and even Rudy Gobert to an extent can exploit mismatches with their size and bully their way to the basket. Randle only knocked down two 3-pointers through the first three games but still averaged 22 points, which validates what I just said.

Jonathan Kuminga OVER 17.5 Points vs. Timberwolves (-105 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

Preview: Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, 9:30 p.m. ET

The only reason Jonathan Kuminga is seeing a lick of action is because Stephen Curry hurt his hamstring, because if the former two-time league Most Valuable Player was out there, Kuminga would still be stuck to the end of the bench in head coach Steve Kerr's supposed doghouse. The Warriors' offense sans Curry has been stagnant, lethargic, and lacking spark, so Kerr had no choice but to give Kuminga a shot, and the 22-year-old forward has made the most of his opportunity. He's averaging 30.7 minutes over the last three outings after totalling 63 through the first eight playoff games with four DNPs sprinkled throughout.

Most importantly, though, Kuminga is putting up 23.7 points and shooting 59.7 percent with a 44.7-percent clip from 3-point range. He's gone OVER 17.5 points each time, and has contributed at least 23 points in each of his last two tries. Only 13 teams out of a possible 293 attempts have ever come back from a 3-1 deficit to win in the end, and with Curry possibly good to go for a Game 6 at home, Golden State's chances to extend the series and afford its superstar more rest relies heavily on what version of Kuminga shows up on Wednesday.
