Derrick White, Boston Celtics

NBA Player Props Today: White's P+R A Wise Investment For Game 3 vs Knicks

Saturday's NBA playoff schedule features the New York Knicks hosting the reigning champion Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden seeking a commanding 3-0 series lead, while the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors head back home to the Chase Center in a 1-1 split with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Here are four expert player prop picks for these matchups, including an OVER on a combination prop for Celtics guard Derrick White (-114) on May 10, 2025.

Derrick White OVER 21.5 Points + Rebounds vs. Knicks (-114 at Sportsbook)

Preview: Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks, 3:30 p.m. ET

No one on Boston looked particularly great in the two games at TD Garden, with all five of White (34.3), Jayson Tatum (28.6), Jaylen Brown (34.9), Kristaps Porzingis (33.3), and Al Horford (23.5) being horribly inefficient shooting the rock. If you're looking at the totality of their numbers, though, an argument can be made that White has been the best of the worst, ranking second on the team in scoring (19.5) and rebounds (10) while converting four 3-pointers on 13.5 attempts.

I ran with a PRA wager on White in Game 2 at 24.5 with -110 value which connected after he ended with a line of 20 points, nine rebounds, and five assists across 40 minutes of action. He and Brown are the only players on the Celtics to have scored at least 19 points in each game thus far, and when factoring in his double-digit rebounding efforts, exceeding this prop at 21.5 (which he's done in five out of seven postseason appearances) shouldn't be an issue whatsoever. Head coach Joe Mazzulla is only going three players deep into his bench, and with Porzingis dealing with an illness, Holiday coming off an injured hamstring, and Horford limited at his age, White's playing time is going to remain high and consistent.

Josh Hart OVER 12.5 Points vs. Celtics (-110 at Sportsbook)

Preview: Boston Celtics vs. New York Knicks, 3:30 p.m. ET

Boston has been perfectly content letting Josh Hart attempt to burn them offensively as perhaps the least intimidating option in the Knicks' starting lineup. What a mistake that's been, as the 30-year-old guard is converting 58.3 percent of his shot attempts to the tune of 18.5 points per game which is second on the team. New York is also averaging three more points per 100 possessions when Hart is on the floor compared to when he's on the bench, as well.

He needs 13 points or better on Saturday to achieve an OVER for this prop, and Hart has accomplished that in each of the last five games. His 23-point showing in Game 2 on 9-of-15 shooting was by far his strongest performance of the playoffs, and it was the first time Hart has dropped at least 20 points in a game since Feb. 23 when he had 20 against the very same Celtics.

Julius Randle OVER 25.5 Points + Rebounds vs. Warriors (-106 at Sportsbook)

Preview: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors, 8:30 p.m. ET

Julius Randle's production for the Timberwolves has been one of the more understated storylines of the playoffs, perhaps due to the bar being relatively low having never shot better than 38 percent this time of year. He's currently averaging 22.1 points, which ranks 16th overall in the Association, while knocking down 48.1 percent of his field goals. Randle has scored 22 or more points in five of Minnesota's seven games, as well, and he's coming off a 24-point night in Game 2 against the Warriors in which he drilled double-digit shots for the first time in the postseason.

His 5.1 rebounds are two less than what he averaged during the regular season, though, but that's still just fine in the contest of betting an OVER for this prop. Randle has gone OVER 25.5 combined points and boards in five of his last six games, averaging 23.2 points and 5.2 rebounds during that span.

Buddy Hield OVER 14.5 Points vs. Timberwolves (-104 at Sportsbook)

Preview: Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors, 8:30 p.m. ET

Golden State's offense sans Curry was at often times unwatchable in Game 2, and that rang especially true to kick things off with the team failing to put the ball through the hoop until the 7:04 mark of the first quarter. Head coach Steve Kerr ended up playing 14 of his Warriors players in the first half, which hasn't been done by any team since 1998, although it did little to cut into the Timberwolves' 17-point lead by halftime. Buddy Hield took the most shots on the team Thursday with 14, making five to finish with 15 in just under 30 minutes.

Oddsmakers knew what they were doing setting Hield's prop at 14.5 points for Game 3, projecting the sharpshooter to perhaps just barely get an OVER once again. His scoring numbers have dwindled game by game since he went off for 33 points in Game 7 versus the Houston Rockets, but as previously stated, with Curry unavailable, Hield is going to be looked upon to knock down shots and keep the score close. He's reached an OVER in five of his last seven games, and should make it six of eight here.
