MLB Hit Props April 2nd 2024

MLB Hit Props For April 2: Fade Garver, Baez

MLB Opening Day is long behind us, but that just means it's time to get into the daily grind of baseball betting. Today, I've got two MLB hit props where I'll be fading two guys to go under 0.5 hits tonight.

Normally I like to be a little optimistic and take overs, but these unders were just too darn obvious. Here are my two MLB prop picks for April 2nd:

Pick 1: Mitch Garver under 0.5 Hits (+120)

Guardians vs Mariners Matchup Preview - Game Time: 9:40 pm ET

Mitch Garver got a big chunk of change from the Mariners this offseason, but he hasn't been off to a great start to 2024. The Seattle DH has just one hit in his first few games, posting a .143 average thus far. I know it's a small sample, but I don't think Garver is going to magically get hot tonight.

Garver faces Guardians ace Shane Bieber, who has absolutely owned him in his career. In 18 career at-bats against Bieber, Garver has two hits and 12 strikeouts — good for a brutal .269 OPS. Bieber has also looked great so far this spring and season, with increased velocity. So, good luck Mitch.

Pick 2: Javier Baez Under 0.5 Hits (+115)

Tigers vs Mets Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:10 pm ET

Ever since he joined the Tigers, Javier Baez has been one of the worst hitters in baseball. With a batting average of .229 for Detroit, Baez has just 248 hits in 284 games for the Tigers – way under one a game.

That alone should give us some confidence to bet the under here, but I also don't like Baez's chances against Mets starter Adrian Houser. New York's righty has seen Baez a fair chunk and has held him to just two hits in 10 career at-bats, worth a .573 career OPS. Baez has just three hits in his first four games of 2024, and I expect it to stay at three tonight.
