Orioles Lead MLB Opening Day betting trends

The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs will open the 2022 Major League Baseball season on Thursday, April 7. MLB Opening Day brings renewed hope and the promise of a fun baseball summer, but it can also bring you some early betting profits.

It can be tough to cap Opening Day, with rookies making debuts and rosters shuffled from the previous season. Spring training isn’t a real gauge, so you have no barometer for your bets.

With that in mind, we break down how the 30 clubs have fared in their opening games over the last 23 seasons. Below, we’ve gathered the straight-up records, OVER/UNDER records, and the best bets for season openers. With teams beginning play on Thursday and Friday this week, use these betting trends to inform your MLB bets over at BetOnline Sportsbook:

If you’re looking for more ways to get in on the MLB betting action this year, you can lock in a futures bet by checking out the World Series odds, or bet on Cy Young Odds or MVP betting odds. Or, if you want to just ride with our super computer, check out our MLB Picks page.

Here’s a look at the straight-up records and OVER/UNDER records for all 30 teams in their season openers since 1999.

MLB Opening Day Best Bet: Baltimore Orioles Upset

There’s no franchise that embodies the hope of baseball’s Opening Day more than the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s haven’t posted a record above .500 since 2016 but own the majors’ best record in season openers this century.

Despite losing their last three opening games, the Orioles are still 15-5 in the last 20 openers. With solid starter John Means on the bump for Baltimore on Friday, the Orioles should be a good upset bet to start off your baseball betting campaign.

Avoid The Texas Rangers On Opening Day

While the Orioles have been MLB’s best on Opening Day, the Texas Rangers have been the worst. If you bet $100 on the last 23 Rangers openers, you’d be down $802.98.

Over the last eight years, Texas has won just two games to start the season, being outscored by 24 runs. Facing off against a strong Toronto Blue Jays squad to start the 2022 season, it’s probably time to fade the Rangers.
