Whether you want to call it a reset or a full-blown rebuild, the Toronto Raptors are entering a new era built around their 23-year-old All-Star and a pair of former New York Knicks as just one player remains from the 2019 NBA championship roster.
In this 2024-25 season preview, here's a rundown of all of the important betting odds pertaining to the Raptors for an upcoming campaign which may bear few victories, but hopefully build some confidence.

Toronto failed to qualify for the postseason on just one occasion from 2014 through 2022, but hasn't clinched a berth in three of the last four years. The likes of Pascal Siakam, O.G. Anunoby, and Fred VanVleet have moved on via free agency and trades, leaving Raptors president Masai Ujiri to retool the roster around a new trio of Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley, and RJ Barrett.
Rather than making win-now moves akin to acquiring Kawhi Leonard in 2019, the Raptors are looking towards the future with a young group of players mostly 25 years of age or younger. This season is the first step towards getting back to being a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference, while also analyzing whether or not this core has any legs.
Best Bet: None
There's no value to be had in wagering on the Raptors to win any of the aforementioned futures because they're simply not good enough as constructed.
The Atlantic Division features three behemoths in the Knicks, reigning champion Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers, and Toronto finished 11 games out of the play-in tournament last season as a complete afterthought in the East.
Player development and assessment is the name of the game here, but that doesn't equate to much for bettors of the team. The Raptors will upset some heavy hitters on occasion, especially if they're healthy, so taking them on the moneyline or spread from time to time may lead to some gains. Beyond that, though, with such astronomical odds, it's better to look elsewhere.
Toronto Raptors' 2024-25 NBA Win Total, Make Playoffs Odds
Team | 2024-25 Win Total | OVER | UNDER | Odds To Make Playoffs |
---|---|---|---|---|
Toronto Raptors | 29.5 | -120 | -102 | +440 |
Odds as of October 9, 2024 at FanDuel
Toronto's .035 winning percentage in 2023-24 was the franchise's worst since 2010-11 when the team went 22-60 at .268. It was also the fifth-worst percentage since the franchise came into existence in 1995.
Best Bet: UNDER 29.5 Wins, -102
Following the All-Star break, the Raptors went on to win just six of their final 27 games for the fifth-worst record during that stretch across the Association. Barnes did sit out the final 22 games, though, while Quickley was absent on nine occasions.
Even so, with next year's draft projected to be one of the deepest in recent memory, there's a high likelihood that Toronto may mail it in at some point and attempt to put itself in prime position to land a high lottery pick. Hovering around the .500 mark, which is probably the ceiling in the standings, doesn't do the Raptors any good in the long run.

Best Bet: Immanuel Quickley For NBA Most Improved Player, +2400
This is the opportunity Quickley has long desired, leading a roster as the starting point guard and taking the bull by the horns to boost his own stock and that of his new team. A five-year, $175-million contract proves Toronto has more than enough faith in him to get the job done, but now it's on the 25-year-old to live up to that deal and prove his employer's right.
Quickley averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists while shooting just under 40 percent from 3-point range in his initial 38 games in a Raptors uniform. His overall shooting percentage needs to see an uptick, but the early returns from Quickley show a player who can be a fringe All-Star and one day be viewed as one of the best at his position.
Voters tend to side with dramatic increases in statistical output, and Quickley can make that happen with more minutes and greater responsibility. In his first full season north of the border, he'll have both.
