There are a variety of wagering options within each betting option. If you’re just getting started, stick with sports and markets that you're familiar with. Over/under, parlays, player props, and futures bets are popular choices.

History Of Sports Betting Legalization In Oklahoma

The timeline to a legal market remains unclear, but Oklahoma bettors have alternatives for the time being. Here’s a look at how thighs have played out. to date.

  1. May 14, 2018

The U.S. Supreme Court lifted the federal ban on sports betting (by striking down PASPA), allowing individual states to legalize and create their own regulations.

  2. January 10, 2022

Rep. Ken Luttrell files House Bill 3008, which would allow for retail betting at tribal locations. The bill made it through committee but ultimately died on the House floor.

  3. February 26, 2023

HB 1027 is introduced. The bill would allow for mobile and retail sports betting in the state through tribes that would have the option to offer sports wagering.

  4. March 16, 2023

Oklahoma’s House passes HB 1027 by a vote of 66-26. Despite Governor Stitt’s support, the bill never made it to the Senate for a vote.

  5. February 5, 2024

Sen. Murdock introduced SB 1434. The bill would legalize sports betting throughout the state, but ultimately never gained enough traction to advance prior to the annual legislative session ending. Now, 2025 is a best case scenario for those hoping for sports betting in Oklahoma.

  6. May 8, 2025

HB 1047, HB 1101, and SB 585 were all introduced and discussed during the year, but none gained significant traction before the legislative session came to a close.

Oklahoma Sports Betting Partnerships

Since sports betting hasn’t been legalized in Oklahoma as of yet, there are no sponsorship deals in place with sportsbooks. In states with legal sports betting markets, sponsor deals are common. For example, the Denver Broncos have deals with FanDuel and BetMGM.

If and when the landscape shifts, we could see changes. The Oklahoma City Thunder will be the most sought-after partner as the state’s lone major pro team, but don’t expect any deals for collegiate programs like Oklahoma or Oklahoma State.

Comparison With Other States

A few neighboring states, including Arkansas and Kansas, have legal sports betting markets. If and when Oklahoma moves forward on legalization, the potential is there for it to be a competitive marketplace right out of the gate.

Oklahoma Sports Betting Revenue, Market Size & Wagering Handle

For comparison, Arkansas checked in with over $79 million in betting handle in November 2025, while the Kansas tally for the same period was $297 million. If the market opens, Oklahoma could be toward the higher end of that range.

Oklahoma Sports Betting Tax Rate

Neighboring Arkansas has a graduated tax rate that starts at 13%, while Kansas has a flat 10% tax for retail and online sports betting.

Potential Legislative Changes & Market Growth in Oklahoma Sports Betting

  1. Sports Betting Legalized in Oklahoma?

Obviously, the biggest legislative change Oklahoma could make would be to legalize sports betting. Efforts have continually stalled, but hopes remain that the landscape will change in the near future. If that happens, it could be a very attractive market for top industry heavyweights to enter.

  2. More Alternatives on the Way

The longer Oklahoma waits to legalize sports betting, the more quality companies like Betr, Prophet X, and Underdog Fantasy will continue to attract interest. As other companies see their success, additional options for Oklahoma sports bettors could follow suit.
