Friedl is scorching right now. He's cashed the OVER 1.5 total bases five straight and eight of his last 10, as the Reds lineup continues to mash its way closer to a playoff spot. Now we've got great value in this contest vs the Cubs, but there's a reason for it.
Colin Rea starts for the Northsiders. Friedl is just 1-for-14 lifetime vs Rea, albeit with only one strikeout, which tells me he's never blown away at the dish. I think this is an example of the sportsbooks exaggerating that matchup and bloating the total value. All to say, this is still a bet to make. I'm in.
Carlos Santana OVER 0.5 Total Bases (-145 at Sportsbook)
Gas me up for some Carlos Santana action. The Guardians switch-hitter is quietly pumping out another quality season, including at least one hit in nine of his last 10 and 13 of his last 20 contests. I don't care much for this pitching matchup against Jose Soriano because the value is sharp. Usually, guys on hot streaks like this face -200 odds for a base hit, at least. Now we see -145? Let's do it.
