Buffalo Bills vs Los Angeles Rams Preview

Bills, Rams Lock Horns in Battle of Undefeated Teams

The Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams square off in Week 3 in one of the few games between undefeated teams. These teams have met just twice since 2008, so there is not much recent history to go on, but we do know both teams rank highly in key offensive and defensive efficiency stats.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

Buffalo (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) opened as a -3 favorite and that number has stayed the same at a couple of books but has fallen to -2.5 in most places. The total opened at 42.5 and has surged to either 47.5 or 48 depending on the sportsbook as big money comes in on the OVER.

Los Angeles News & Notes

The offense of the Rams (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) has come out firing on all cylinders to start the 2020 season, ranking behind only Green Bay and Seattle in offensive DVOA, a metric used to measure efficiency. On defense, the Rams rank 14th in DVOA through two weeks, although they played the horribly inefficient and ineffective Eagles in Week 2.

Quarterback Jared Goff has spread the ball effectively and the team has deployed a stable of running backs with no one receiver or back dominating touches in either game. Week 1 saw running back Malcolm Brown have a couple of scores while in Week 2 it was running back Darrell Henderson who stood out while tight end Tyler Higbee caught three touchdowns.

Watch for Henderson to get more runs in Week 3 as rookie running back Cam Akers was injured in Week 2 and Henderson did more with fewer touches than Brown.

Buffalo News & Notes

Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been exceptional through two weeks. Allen has led the Bills to a No. 8 overall ranking in offensive DVOA almost single-handedly, as the Bills have not been able to manage much of a ground game. Allen leads the league with 729 passing yards and has six touchdown passes and no interceptions through two weeks.

The Rams defense will certainly be a stiffer test than the Jets and Dolphins, but Allen and his underrated receiving duo of Stefon Diggs and John Brown are an explosive bunch who present serious problems for defenses with their speed.

Diggs will likely be followed around the yard by Rams star corner Jalen Ramsey, so watch for Brown to keep his early-season success rolling.

Betting Pick: OVER 47.5

This line could easily rise more as the week goes on, but for now it seems like a lock. Neither offense has had much trouble scoring and the Bills defense just allowed 28 points to Miami.
