Raiders vs Cardinals Picks - Preseason Week 3
This Raiders vs Cardinals matchup will be a true battle of roster depth. Pete Carroll has mixed in the Las Vegas starters as the preseason has rolled along, but doesn't expect to play many of his top-22 players on Saturday night.
Similarly, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon stated he would "see how this week goes" before making a decision on starters playtime in Week 3. Arizona played their starters for the first quarter in Week 1 against Kansas City, but held them out of Week 2's 27-7 loss in Denver.
As such, expect to see a ton of Aidan O'Connell and Clayton Tune under center. O'Connell has started a number of regular season contests, and has led scoring drives this preseason. He's a semi-competent quarterback, and should be able to move the football against the Cardinals backups. Tune has been far less productive, but I'm hoping we see a cameo from Arizona's primary backup, Jacoby Brissett, who's thrown three touchdown passes in limited action so far.
Both of the Raiders preseason games have gone OVER the total this preseason, and the OVER has hit in seven of their last eight preseason contests. With at least two quarterbacks who understand the nuances of an NFL offense taking the field on Saturday, they'll be able to move the football playing against vanilla defenses in this Raiders vs Cardinals contest. I'm betting on the OVER streak to continue.
