Carolina is still the stingiest team in the league when it comes to allowing shots, giving up just 24.3 per game, and they’ve tightened that even further to 21.2 over their last 10. Boston is at the other end, allowing 30.7 shots per game and an even higher 32.6 recently.

Carolina and Colorado are both firing 34.5 and 33.4 shots per game, with both trending even hotter in their last 10. Detroit has climbed to 29.8 shots this season and 29.6 lately, while Buffalo and Calgary stay reliably in that 28-30+ shot range. On the lower end, Chicago (25.4), Dallas (25.4), and Boston (26.9) remain among the quieter shooting teams, making them tough to trust for SOG props.

How To Use NHL Shots On Goal Report

I find the Shots Against report one of the most useful resources for my NHL shot props. If you want to bet the OVER on a certain player's shots tonight, check to see if they face a team that gives up a lot of SOGs.

But, more specifically, see how they do against the player's specific position. Teams have vastly different defensive capabilities against position groups based on system and personnel. For example, targeting a defender's shot prop OVER against a team that lets up lots of shots to D is a great strategy.
