Which NFL Team Will Antonio Brown Play For Next?

Antonio Brown Next NFL Team Odds

Antonio Brown's brief career with the Oakland Raiders is already over before it truly started, and odds are out on which NFL team the disgruntled wide receiver will sign with next.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brown was released from the Raiders on September 7. The news comes in the wake of a series of events in which the veteran voiced his displeasure with the team.

Brown's release is especially suprising considering head coach Jon Gruden told reporters on Friday that Brown would play for the team against the Denver Broncos on Monday despite getting into a heated exchange with general manager Mike Mayock on Wednesday.

Is Brown Bound for New England?

Unsurprisingly, online sportsbook Bovada has tabbed the New England Patriots as the +200 favorites to land Brown. The Washington Redskins (+300), Dallas Cowboys (+600), Buffalo Bills (+700), Houston Texans (+1000), Denver Broncos (+1000), Arizona Cardinals (+1000), San Francisco 49ers (+1000) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1000) are also available to wager on.

As each day goes on, the Pittsburgh Steelers' decision to get rid of Brown seems smarter and smarter. Brown, who was dealt to Oakland in the offseason for a third and fifth round draft pick, has been one of the best wide receivers in the league since getting drafted in 2010. Recently, though, his off-field antics have proven to be too much to handle, and now the Raiders must go forward without their superstar only two days before the season begins.

If you're surprised to see the Patriots as the favorite to sign Brown, you clearly haven't been paying attention. New England has made a habit of bringing in players that were perceived as malcontents and making them conform under "the Patriot way," and Brown would certainly fit that description. But Brown's recent behavior might scare off even Bill Belichick, as the 31-year-old is a major risk to uproot any pre-existing locker room chemistry right now.

Brown's Future is in His Own Hands

When trying to guess where Brown will go next, it's important to remember that his future destination is entirely up to him. Brown does not have to clear waivers, so he's now an unrestricted free agent who's free to sign wherever he wants. For that reason, I'd rule out the Redskins, Bills, Cardinals and Buccaneers since none of those teams are expected to be playoff contenders in 2019.
