Rams vs 49ers Pick

There's more than a decent chance that the 49ers pick up their second win over the Rams of the season, but I'm taking them at +3.5 with the moneyline value not feeling quite strong enough given the injuries that San Francisco has been battling all year. Things could get a bit better this week, but quarterback Brock Purdy has only played in two games, Ricky Pearsall has played four, rookie Mykel Williams is expected to be done for the season, and George Kittle only recently returned to the lineup. The 49ers have found ways to win, but they're doing so in spite of roster issues.
The 49ers still have more than a shot despite those issues. Mac Jones started the Week 5 victory when both Pearsall and Kittle were sidelined, and San Francisco's rushing attack was almost entirely neutralized, with the team accumulating 74 rushing yards on 33 carries at just 2.2 yards per carry. Los Angeles had the majority of its starters available for that game, too.
There's also the matter of Kyle Shanahan's dominance over Sean McVay since both coaches took over their respective teams in 2017. Shanahan holds an 11-6 advantage in head-to-head games against McVay, and he enjoyed a nine-game winning streak from 2019 through part of the 2023 season. The Rams won three in a row after that before dropping the Week 5 overtime contest.
The roster concerns are enough to have me take the 3.5 points, especially since it covers a field goal loss. San Francisco's past dominance and their ability to win earlier in the year despite the roster concerns could lead me to place a moneyline bet if the odds shift and continue to favor the Rams.

The 32-year-old has never gone three games in a row against the Rams without scoring, and he failed to find the end zone in the last two matchups against his NFC West opponent. Plus, Kittle has scored in two of his four games this season. He clearly remains an integral part of the 49ers' game plan.
