February 27th NHL Picks

Taking the above trends alongside some more in-depth handicapping, here are two picks I'm focused on for tonight's NHL games:

Buffalo's Mattias Samuelsson has gone UNDER 2.5 blocks (-175 at Sportsbook)

Mattias Samuelsson has gone OVER 2.5 blocks in four of his last five gome games. But, for some reason he can't block shots on the road. He's gone UNDER 2.5 blocks in 18-straight road games, averaging just one block per road contest in that stretch.

Tonight, Samuelsson plays a Hurricanes team that is great at getting pucks through, as well. Carolina leads the NHL in unblocked shot attempts (2950) on the season, with over 100 more than any other squad.

Oilers' Leon Draisaitl Anytime Goal (+140 at Sportsbook)

Leon is on an absolute heater. He's got three goals and an assist in three games out of the 4 Nations break. He's scored goals in six-straight games and has seven goals in his last six road contests.

Drai faces a Panthers squad that is decent at stopping goals. They allow the 12th-fewest goals against in the NHL this year (2.85 per game) and have allowed just six goals in the last four. But, the last time the Oilers' faced the Panthers, Draisaitl scored and added an assist. In 17 career games against the Florida, Drai has seven goals.
