Commanders vs Chiefs Picks - Week 8

Everything went right for Kansas City in a 31-0 blowout over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense are rolling, averaging 29.6 points in their past five games while going 4-1 SU & ATS.

You may have heard this one before but Andy Reid's squad is steamrolling through the NFL. Kansas City's +71 point differential and 1,953 offensive yards both lead the league over the past five weeks. In that same span, the Chiefs are second in offensive EPA per play, and fifth defensively.

Daniels' hamstring is not considered a long term injury, but he won't play on Monday Night Football. His top receivers also look likely to miss this one. Terry McLaurin continues to a battle a quad issue that has kept him out for most of the year, while Deebo Samuel has a heel injury. Additionally, Noah Brown is on injured reserve, leaving Luke McCaffrey and Chris Moore as the only truly healthy Commanders wideouts. Washington's offense could hardly move the football against a brutal Cowboys defense. With last year's NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and the Commanders top receivers on the sidelines, Washington has little hope of pulling off the upset. In three games this year without McLaurin, Daniels has completed just 62% of his passes for an average of 199 yards, and 1.7 touchdowns per game.

Historically, Washington has been awful against Kansas City, going 0-7 SU & ATS dating all the way back to 1992. In his only career start against Washington back in 2021, Mahomes went 32-of-47 for 397 yards two touchdowns and two interceptions in a 31-13 blowout. At the same time, Mahomes is just 6-12 ATS as a big favorite of 11 or more points throughout his career, so I like the idea of buying this line down to 9.5. Kansas City has covered in four of their last five games as home favorites, and are 16-1 SU in their last 17 games at Arrowhead.

Commanders vs Chiefs Week 8 Pick: Chiefs -9.5 (-120)

Pick Made as of Oct. 20th

This line moved to Chiefs -11.5 after the Oct.22 announcement that Daniels will miss MNF. The Commanders vs Chiefs total also fell to 46.5.

Commanders vs Chiefs Props - Week 8

Travis Kelce OVER 3.5 Receptions (-145)

I'm backing Mr. Swift to haul in a bunch of catches against a vulnerable Commanders defense. 50-year-old Bobby Wagner can no longer keep up with tight ends, and Washington is giving up almost five catches a game to the position. Plus, Kelce has hauled in at least four catches in 10 of his last 12 home games, while averaging a whopping 6.2 per contest.

Commanders vs Chiefs betting Trends

  • Washington is 0-7 SU & ATS in its last 7 games against Kansas City
  • Washington is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 road games
  • Kansas City is 16-1 SU in its last 17 games at home
  • Kansas City is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games played in October
