  • The Boston Bruins set the tone both physically and offensively in a 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, and the red-hot B’s will look to notch their ninth playoff win in a row when Game 2 gets underway at TD Garden tonight. Sportsbooks opened the Bruins as -165 home favorites with a total of 5.5.

    Standout Stats

    • St. Louis squandered an early two-goal lead by getting outshot 30-12 over the final two periods in Game 1. The loss dropped the Blues to 7-3 SU on the road in the postseason.
    • Boston has now won all nine playoff matchups against St. Louis, as the Blues fell to 0-13 SU all-time in Stanley Cup Final play after the loss.
    • Blues defenseman Vince Dunn, who’s been sidelined since Game 3 of the Western Conference final after getting hit in the mouth with a shot, practiced for a third straight day Tuesday and could be back in the lineup for Game 2.
    • Jordan Binnington didn’t have his best game in the series opener, but the rookie netminder has been fantastic at bouncing back in the postseason. The 25-year-old is 5-2 in the playoffs following a loss.
    • With Game 1 going OVER the total, the trend of these teams participating in high-scoring affairs at TD Garden continued. The OVER is 3-1 in the past four meetings between the Blues and Bruins in Beantown.
    • Home-ice advantage is massive when the Bruins and Blues collide, evidenced by visiting teams going 0-5 SU and 1-4 on the puckline in the past five clashes between the squads.

    It seemed like the majority of the hockey betting world was on the UNDER in Game 1, but the Bruins’ comeback and Brad Marchand’s empty-netter at the end of the third period caused the tilt to go OVER.

    Now that the clubs have renewed acquaintances and are starting to feel each other out, I’m expecting the Blues to play the way they did in the first period of the series opener for the entirety of Game 2 and for the Bruins to pick up where they left off. With both teams seemingly clicking offensively, I expect Game 2 to go OVER the 5.5-goal total.
