Consecutive trips to the Western Conference finals for the Minnesota Timberwolves resulted in identical 4-1 exits, making it three tries in franchise history which ultimately came up short. That's the most by any team in NBA history without a Finals appearance, and a trend Minnesota is coming closer and closer to breaking.
In this 2025-26 season preview, we'll look at all important betting odds pertaining to the Timberwolves as they try to get over the hump and reach the first-ever Finals in their existence.

Best Bet: Minnesota Timberwolves to win Western conference championship, +1200
Always a bridesmaid, but never a bride. The Timberwolves have dropped a combined five games across the first two rounds of the last two postseasons, including 4-1 series wins over the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors in 2025, along with a miraculous Game 7 comeback over the reigning champion Denver Nuggets in 2024. Then Minnesota comes to within four wins of a Finals berth and it all falls apart, losing out to the Dallas Mavericks and eventual 2025 champion Oklahoma City Thunder in rather convincing fashion.
Moving Nickeil Alexander-Walker to the Atlanta Hawks stings after he put forth some memorable performances versus Oklahoma City, but head coach Chris Finch still has a pair of Sixth Man of the Year candidates at his disposal in Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo. A 25-year-old Terrence Shannon Jr. and 20-year-old Rob Dillingham are more than willing to soak up minutes created by NAW's departure, as well, but we'll see if they're up to the task.
Locking up Reid and Julius Randle to new deals keeps the Timberwolves' core group intact, and familiarity/consistency can often be overlooked when determining which teams have what it takes to reach the mountaintop. The brick wall known as the Thunder still impedes their path, but no defending champion has gone beyond the second round the following year since 2020, and that creates enough upside to envision Minnesota cashing in on this prop.
Minnesota Timberwolves 2025-26 NBA Win Total, Make Playoffs Odds

| Minnesota Timberwolves | 49.5 | -105 | -115 | -670 |
Odds as of October 2, 2025 at FanDuel
Best Bet: UNDER 49.5 wins, -120
The Timberwolves' 49-33 record in 2024-25 was their second-best record since 2024 and the fifth-best in their history, but it was seven fewer wins than the year prior. It also took a 17-4 finish to the campaign for them to secure the No. 6 seed in the West and avoid the play-in tournament entirely, but of those 17 victories, 13 of them came by double digits. It wasn't just a lucky surge, but more so showcase of the threat Minnesota could still be regardless of who they paired off with in the bracket.
The West is getting better and deeper as time goes on, and the difference between the No. 2 and No. 8 spots was a measly four games already. Competition is fierce, and that aforementioned hot streak still resulted in an UNDER on 49.5 wins.

Best Bet: Anthony Edwards for NBA Clutch Player of the year, +900
Anthony Edwards garnered a pair of first-place votes for 2025 Clutch Player of the Year, but finished well behind Nikola Jokic and eventual winner Jalen Brunson in the tally. This came despite the fact that Edwards led all players in total points scored in clutch moments (final five minutes of the fourth quarter and overtime when the score is within five points or less) with 157, along with 21 made 3-pointers (first) and 45 rebounds (fourth).
This award is entering its fourth year of existence, and no one has yet to win multiple times. Surprisingly, Edwards was the first player to top the league in clutch scoring and not end up with this hardware. Barring an injury or the three-time All-Star falling off the face of the planet, he should once again be near the top in this category, and voters may look to make right on his recent snub.
