The Tigers are looking pretty good. They've won three series in a row, including wins over the Royals and Rays, and have been one of the good stories of the 2024 season, so far.
The key here for me is the pitching matchup, though. Kenta Maead is coming off his best start of the season (five shutout innings against the Rays) and has pitched really well in two of his last three starts. St. Louis' Steven Matz, on the other hand, has been pretty consistently bad. He's allowed at least four runs in his last three starts, including 12 ER combined over the last two outings.her hand,
Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 2: Maeda O4.5 Ks
When Maeda is going, he's actually a better strikeout pitcher than most of us think. In two of his last three starts, he's racked up five strikeouts.
I think he's got a great matchup to get some Ks today. He faces a Cardinals lineup that he's owned in the past, as current St. Louis batters own a .259 career on-base percentage against the Tigers righty. In 80 at-bats against current Cards, Maeda has 30 Ks.
Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 3: Cardinals U4.5 Runs
I mentioned that Maeda kinda owns these Cardinals, and I think that's going to stay true today. Current Cards have just four extra-base hits against Maeda in 80 at-bats, good for a collective .494 OPS. St. Louis has alos managed over 4.5 runs in just two of their last five games.
