March Madness Betting Trends: Totals
Here is how the four remaining teams fared when it comes to their game totals this season.
NCAA March Madness O/U Record
Team | O/U Record |
---|---|
No. 8 North Carolina | 21-16-0 (56.8%) |
No. 2 Duke | 21-16-1 (56.8%) |
No. 1 Kansas | 19-17-2 (52.8%) |
No. 2 Villanova | 17-19-1 (47.2%) |
The two teams that went OVER the number most often this season are playing each other in the Final Four, with the bottom two facing off as well.
The OVER hit both times Duke and North Carolina played this season. Duke beat North Carolina 87-67 on February 5 with a total of 152.5, and the Tar Heels beat the Blue Devils 94-81 on March 5 with a total set at 153.5.
This weekend’s matchup has a total set early in the week at 151, which seems a little low.
Kansas games also went OVER more than UNDER this season, and both Kansas and Villanova have top-10 offenses according to kenpom.com’s offensive efficiency rankings.
But sportsbooks seem to think that game will be lower-scoring with a total set at 133 as of Tuesday.

March Madness Betting Trends: ATS Records
If you’re not a fan of betting on totals, no worries, we have March Madness betting trends for spreads as well.
NCAA March Madness: Final Four ATS Records
Team | ATS Record (Cover percentage) |
---|---|
No. 2 Villanova | 20-15-2 (57.1%) |
No. 8 North Carolina | 20-16-1 (55.6%) |
No. 2 Duke | 20-16-2 (55.6%) |
No. 1 Kansas | 19-19 (50.0%) |
It should come as no surprise that these teams were good at covering the spread this season.
What is a surprise is that the lone remaining No. 1 seed, Kansas, was the worst of the four by covering exactly half its games. The Jayhawks’ opponent this weekend, Villanova, was the best of the four at covering the spread.
Another quite peculiar finding here is that not only did North Carolina and Duke have the exact same percentage of their games hit the OVER, they also covered at the exact same rate.
