Area 51 Raid Betting Odds

Area 51 Betting Odds

Tinfoil hat wearers united on Facebook over the weekend in an event called “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us.” The event has attracted over one million people saying they are going to raid Area 51 in the early morning of Friday, September 20. Initially, the event was made up in jest but it has certainly caught fire and the best question is whether people will actually take it seriously and attempt to infiltrate the highly classified Air Force complex.

Online sportsbook Bovada has provided us bettors with an opportunity to wager on what may occur on September 20, whether people will actually show up for a raid and how many will end up RSVP’ing to this Facebook event.

Why Area 51?

There has been much lore about Area 51 dating back to the Roswell UFO incident in the late 1940s. In that event, it was reported that a flying saucer had crashed in Roswell, New Mexico, but the next day the military stated it was a weather balloon, which raised the brow of many alien believers that there was a coverup in place. Additionally, for many years Americans were told that Area 51 didn’t exist, until George Washington University secured documents in 2013 that proved it was in fact real.

More recently, Bob Lazar was on the very popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast and talked about working at S-4, a part of Area 51, where he claimed he worked on alien aircrafts. In the interview, he outlined many details of working at the top-secret lab but also failed to answer many questions, citing he had a migraine or that it was a long time ago, which leads to more questions about the controversial takes he has.

What’s at Risk for Those Who Wish to Invade?

Although the Facebook event was made as a joke, there could be grave consequences for those who actually pursue this plan. There’s plenty of signs surrounding the facility warning that the use of deadly force is authorized against those who trespass. Meanwhile, people who have neared the bounds of the base in the past have been quickly greeted with guards in military uniforms while there are also closed-circuit televisions surveying the grounds at all times.

Best Bet for the Area 51 Raid

I think there’s some real value on the “Yes” for whether the grounds will be raided at +225. I believe this might be a winnable play because although the event was made as a joke, it has gained over one million RSVPs already, with the “event” set to take place in two months.

Not all of the one million people understand internet comedy/sarcasm and for action to take place on Bovada, only 100 or more people have to attempt to gain access to the base. I wouldn’t be surprised if we get 100 or more people actually taking this seriously.
