Team Liquid Slight Favorite To Win DPC Europe West Finals

After some last-minute changes, the first season of 2022’s Dota Pro Circuit has reached its final stage – the regional finals. We’re set for an exciting three days of action with the best west European teams battling it out to decide the season 1 Sportsbook.

This event takes place instead of the usual major, so we’ll see events like it for every competitive region in the game. Unfortunately, it does mean we won’t have international action for a while, but we can still enjoy (and place some bets) on the regional final.

Make sure to familiarize yourself with the game with our Dota 2 betting guide and let’s take a look at the event in more detail.

Who’s Playing At The Dota Pro Circuit West Europe Regional Finals?

The regional finals are a last-minute addition to the DPC after the usual post-regular-season major was canceled at the start of January. This event features just four teams, the top four ranked teams in the regular season, which for west Europe is Team Liquid, Team Tickles, Tundra Esports and OG.

These teams will be battling it out over a $100,000 prize pool, as well as all-important DPC points, which serve as a way to qualify for Dota 2’s world championship, The International.

As the finals are running over just two days, the format is pretty straightforward. Teams are placed in a double-elimination bracket, initially seeded based on regular-season rankings. Matches are played in a best-of-three format until a best-of-five final, and teams are eliminated after two series losses.

Favored Liquid Looks To Maintain Impressive Form

Liquid enters the regional finals as the favorite, having finished first in the regular season and showing impressive form throughout.

They lost just one series during the season, an unfortunate slip-up to Nigma Galaxy, who didn’t even make the playoffs. In fact, they took down every team at the regional finals pretty comfortably, which is what puts them at pole position to win it.

To add to that, they’re also both the most experienced team in the finals, as well as on paper the most skilled. All of their players are tenured Dota 2 veterans playing at an absolutely elite level and some of them have even won The International previously in their careers.

Despite that, they come in at +200 on Sportsbook to win it – or odds of 33.3 percent according to Odds Shark’s Super Calculator – making them a solid value pick. There is, as always, a chance they don’t win, but considering previous results, the players and the odds, backing Liquid looks to be the best bet at the DPC Europe West finals.

Can Team Tickles Continue Cinderella Story?

Team Tickles enters the finals as the biggest underdog, but there’s more than meets the eye with this team. They’ve been subverting expectations all season, having come in as a favorite to get relegated but instead shaking the Dota scene to the core by finishing in second place.

The mix of youngsters and experienced players completed upset after upset weekly as they took down some of the biggest names in Dota 2, all while not even representing an organization.

Clearly, Sportsbooks believe their miracle run will finally be put to an end at the regional finals. However, if there was ever a time to believe in the unexpected and take a punt on a long shot, this may just be it.

What To Expect From OG’s Young Guns And Tundra’s Rising Roster

The last two teams of the event came in third and fourth place in the regular season in another set of somewhat unexpected results. Both teams came in as underdogs, with OG completely rebuilding their roster with three young stars, including two 16-year-old DPC rookies, while Tundra had been on a general upswing but still not considered a top-three team in Europe.

Eyes will be on both teams to see how they perform at the regional finals. With OG, it’s a matter of seeing if their rookie gamble pays off and if they’ve found a couple of superstars in the making. Meanwhile, for Tundra this could be their first step to becoming an elite side in Europe.

Both teams will need to show a step up from their regular season if they really want to challenge the favorites and both definitely have the potential to do it. We’ll just have to wait and see how things play out at the regional finals.
