Guys & Bets (Episode 253): Three College Basketball Picks, Plus Champions League and Premier League Picks

It’s your two favorite sports bettors and Joe Osborne and Andrew Avery have taken a long look at the betting board today and have come up with a few wagers. Ninja has three soccer picks and Joe has three basketball picks.

Joe gets the show started in college basketball, with what looks to be the best game of the day as No. 21 Butler is in Newark, New Jersey, to take on Big East foe, No. 16 Seton Hall. The Bulldogs have had a difficult time reaching 70 points lately. They’ve gone below that mark in five of their last six games, including outings of 61 and 57 points against Xavier and Marquette, respectively. Joe likes a wager on the total for this one.

Next up, it’s an SEC matchup with the No. 13 Auburn Tigers in Georgia to take on the Bulldogs. Projected lottery pick Anthony Edwards has done all he can to carry Georgia this season, but it hasn’t translated into wins. It’s been a struggle under second-year head coach Tom Crean, with Georgia sitting second from the bottom in the conference. Auburn is looking to right the ship after dropping an 85-73 decision to Missouri on the weekend. Joe’s play here is regarding the spread.

Finally for Joe, he found a line he likes in the American Athletic Conference as SMU is in the Devlin Fieldhouse to take on Tulane. The Green Wave have struggled thus far and sit at 10-15 on the season. Junior guard Teshaun Hightower has done all he can to keep Tulane in it this season, but it’s been an uphill struggle. SMU comes into this game having upset 20th-ranked Houston 73-72 in overtime on Saturday. The Mustangs have a balanced attack with four players averaging double digits in scoring and three players averaging over six rebounds a game.

It’s the second day of Round of 16 play in the Champions League as Tottenham takes on RB Leipzig. Tottenham enters this match having some issues on the back end recently, but they have been scoring enough to mask some of those issues. RB Leipzig comes into this match off a 3-0 win in Bundesliga action last weekend. They did finish atop Group G in group play and will look to take the Sportsbook leg of this match. Ninja has a wager on the total.

In today’s other Champions League match, Atalanta matches up with Valencia. Ninja has gone through the data and found a goal prop bet that he likes. Atalanta comes into this tilt on a scoring streak. They’ve found the back of the net 13 times in their last four games, including a seven-goal outburst against Torino. Meanwhile, Valencia has scored the sixth-most goals in La Liga (35) even though they have been wretched on the road of late.

Ninja caps off his trio of soccer picks with another goal total. Fresh off their punishment for contravening “Financial Fair Play” regulations, Manchester City looks to take out some of their frustrations against West Ham United. This game is a mismatch in every sense. While Man City should come away with a win, it’s really just a matter of by how much.
