Week 12 NFL and College Football Picks | Odds Shark’s Guys & Bets (Episode 293)

Get excited, it’s a Football Friday! Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery and Iain MacMillan have their favorite bets lined up for the football weekend ahead.

A big story from last week’s NFL games was Taysom Hill of the New Orleans Saints. With so many questions surrounding his ability to play the quarterback position, Hill put some of those to rest with an impressive performance against the Atlanta Falcons, going 18-for-23 for 233 yards and running for another 51 yards and two touchdowns. The Saints’ opponents this week, the Denver Broncos, are fresh off a home win against the Miami Dolphins. The Broncos defensive line was a major reason why they won last week and it will look to contain Hill, Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara.

Joe’s been killing his teasers on G&B with a 12-2 record entering the weekend. The Dolphins are one of the teams Joe sees value in, especially when you can get them down to a 1-point favorite. It looks like a good bounce-back spot for Miami, on the road taking on the New York Jets. The Dolphins defense has been the catalyst for them this year and after already shutting the Jets out in their first matchup, they’ll look to do the same again. The other team Joe is pairing with Miami is a road underdog.

Next up, Joe is betting on the total as the Tennessee Titans are in Indianapolis to take on the Colts. These two teams played two weeks ago and the Colts won 34-17 in Tennessee. It’s a huge game as first place in the AFC South is on the line with both teams sitting atop the division at 7-3. As usual, the Colts should expect a heavy dose of NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry. But, Indy counters that with a rush defense that’s given up the third-fewest yards on the season.

Switching gears to college football, Ninja is looking at the Big Ten as the Penn State Nittany Lions are in Ann Arbor to face the Michigan Wolverines. It’s been a disappointing season for both of these storied programs as Michigan sits at 2-3 and Penn State is 0-5. Jim Harbaugh made the switch at quarterback last week, putting in Cade McNamara, and he responded with four touchdowns as Michigan beat Rutgers 48-42.

Time for some MACtion as the Kent State Golden Flashes are 3-0 and they are clicking on offense with senior quarterback Dustin Crum leading the way. Their offense has put up 69 and 62 points respectively the last two weeks and features a three-headed backfield as Marquez Cooper, Bryan Bradford and Xavier Williams have all shown that they are capable of toting the rock. Ninja is looking at a bet on the team total for Kent State.

The Atlanta Falcons got wiped out last week by the New Orleans Saints and now are set to host the Las Vegas Raiders. Derek Carr and the Raiders put up another good game against the Chiefs last week but ultimately fell short. The Raiders are 6-4 and are right in the thick of things in the AFC playoff chase. We know Atlanta has shown a propensity to blow leads every way possible, so regardless of how this game is going, sit tight.

Iain’s other bet on the show is on the total between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If you can see Tom Brady vs Patrick Mahomes and not get excited for football, well, I don’t know what to tell you. Leading the Chiefs to a last-minute game-winning touchdown drive last week, Mahomes showed once again why he’s the best quarterback in the game right now. Travis Kelce is having another All-Pro season as he sits fourth in the NFL in receiving yards and has over 350 more yards than any other tight end.
