MLB Stolen Base Props March 28th

MLB Stolen Base Props For March 28th: De La Cruz To Steal

Let's get the 2024 season off and running with some MLB stolen base props.

I've got two pitcher/catcher matchups I've identified as particularly exposed today, and I think we're sure for a swiped bag or two on Opening Day. Follow along for two MLB SB prop picks for March 28:

Pick 1: Ha-Seong Kim To Steal (+350)

Padres vs Giants Matchup Preview - Game Time: 10:07 pm ET

Logan Webb was the third-worst pitcher in baseball against the run game in 2023. The Giants’ ace allowed 10 more base advances than average and allowed two more stolen base runs than average, too.

While Giants catcher Patrick Bailey is pretty good at commanding the run game, that won’t be enough against a proficient stealer like Kim. The Padres shortstop stole 38 bases on 47 attempts last year (for an impressive 81%).

Kim stole the most bases of any player on the Padres last year, but is somehow third on his team in odds to steal a base on Opening Day, behind Tatis Jr. and Tyler Wade.

Pick 2: Elly De La Cruz To Steal (+194)

Reds vs Nationals Matchup Preview - Game Time: 4:10 pm ET

The odds here aren’t the most juicy value in the world, but if Elly gets on base it almost seems certain he’s gonna try for a steal.

He attempted 43 stolen bases in just 98 games last year, and was successful on 35 of them. On Opening Day, De La Cruz and the Reds face off against a Nationals battery that features the worst run-defending catcher in baseball (Kiebert Ruiz) and a below-average pitcher at containing the run game (Josiah Gray). Ruiz caught just 7% of base-stealers last year, a truly impressively bad feat.

Facing the Gray/Ruiz tandem will be great for De La Cruz getting off to a running start this year.
