NBA Same-Game Parlay: Raptors vs. Lakers

The "same-game parlay" is a fun wrinkle in the world of sports betting which allows bettors to combine multiple outcomes from the same game (obviously) into a single parlay. If all of the wagers win, then the payout is that much more. Why go for a single prop, point spreadmoneyline, or OVER/UNDER when you can ride the wave of multiples to larger profit?

The Toronto Raptors (15-21) are in the midst of a six-game road trip against Western Conference opposition which takes them to Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night to take on the Los Angeles Lakers (18-19).

Let's put together a same-game parlay for this matchup and make some money.

Immanuel Quickley OVER 4.5 Assists-138

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 1: Toronto Raptors ATS +5

The Raptors have momentum on their side after destroying the Golden State Warriors 133-118 on Sunday night while holding Stephen Curry to a rare 0-of-9 shooting from 3-point range. The Lakers are coming off a narrow 106-103 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers which was at great risk of not happening had a last-second shot by Norman Powell fallen through. It was their first win in five games.

Toronto is 5-2 against the spread across its last seven games, and 11-3 ATS in its last 14 meetings with the Lakers, who have covered just once in their last eight games at home against the visiting Raptors. Not only should they cover, but there's as good a chance as any that Toronto takes this game considering recent history.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 2: Anthony Davis To Score 25+ Points

Jakob Poeltl's presence will be sorely missed as he sits his first game of the season with a sprained ankle. He's Toronto's strongest interior defender who would have combatted Anthony Davis, so head coach Darko Rajakovic may need to go a tad smaller with Scottie Barnes, Pascal Siakam, or even newcomer Jontay Porter in an attempt to slow down Davis.

That's easier said than done, though, even if Poeltl were healthy. Davis is averaging a staggering 27.3 points on 61.1 FG%, 11 rebounds, 3.7 assists, two steals, and 2.7 blocks over his last three games to open the new year. Those numbers could go even higher if LeBron James sits, as he's currently questionable with ankle peroneal tendinopathy.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 3: RJ Barrett To Score 15+ Points

A spark has consumed RJ Barrett since coming home via a trade with the New York Knicks to join the Raptors. The 23-year-old is averaging 21 points on 53.8 FG% and 52.6 3P% across four appearances since his acquisition by Toronto.

This includes a 37-point outburst against the Warriors in which Barrett drilled five shots from behind the arc. His lowest point total during this stretch is 14 points, so even on his weakest night with the franchise thus far, Barrett still hovered around the 15-point mark.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 4: Immanuel Quickley OVER 4.5 Assists

Sometimes you need to ride with a relatively safe parlay to increase your gains in the end. In this case, Immanuel Quickley has distributed five or more assists in each of his last three games in Toronto, including a season-high 10 dimes against the Warriors.

The Lakers allow 27.1 APG to the opposition, which is 19th overall. The Raptors' offense has improved exponentially since the trade, creating more opportunities for Quickley to run the offense and increase those ever-growing assist numbers of his.

What Is An NBA Same-Game Parlay?

The basic concept of a same-game parlay is the same as any parlay bet. Combining two or more wagers, you can earn a higher total payout if all of the individual bets win. You can usually combine point spreadsOVER/UNDERsmoneyline bets, and sometimes prop bets.

What differentiates a same-game parlay (if the name doesn’t make it obvious) is all the legs of the parlay have to be from the same game. Often, this makes the odds you're getting on the parlay slightly worse, though, as the books have to bake in an added edge when all the bets are from the same event.

How To Create Good Same-Game Parlays

The main takeaway for betting on same-game parlays is understanding the context of your bets. While most single-game bets or even standard multi-game parlays are solely reliant on you doing your research or going with your gut on isolated events, knowing how your parlay can function as a collective result is key for a same-game parlay. It's risky to bet the OVER on one team's point total while also betting on the other team to win.
