Baltimore Ravens vs Los Angeles Chargers

Two high-octane offenses, both averaging over 25 points per game, hook up in Los Angeles as the Chargers (4-6) play host to the Ravens (8-3).

Baltimore, who sits atop the AFC North division, has scored at least 30 points in five consecutive games. As for the Chargers, they are mired in a two-game losing skid and currently occupy the basement in the AFC West.

The Ravens, who have won three of the last four head-to-head meetings, opened as 3.5-point favorites. The total opened at 44.5, but that number has since spiked. The UNDER is 7-1 in L.A.'s last eight contests.

The Ravens enter this game with a few extra days of rest after beating Cincinnati, 34-20, last Thursday. But the win came at a cost as both Lamar Jackson and Mark Andrews suffered ankle injuries. Andrews, who has six touchdowns this season, will miss a chunk of time.

As for Jackson, he stayed in the game, passing for 264 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while rushing for another 54 yards. Running back Gus Edwards had another big game with a pair of scores, giving him 10 rushing TDs on the season, second only to Raheem Mostert of the Dolphins.

Head coach Brandon Staley is feeling the heat after another disappointing result last week, a 23-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Five of the Chargers’ six losses have been by three points or fewer, but of course, close only counts in horseshoes.

Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen continue to put up big numbers though. Herbert threw for 260 yards and a pair of touchdowns and added 73 yards on the ground. Allen caught 10 passes for 116 yards to push him over the 1,000 mark for the season, good enough for fourth most in the league.

The Chargers will be without linebacker Joey Bosa for this game after injuring his foot last week. 

Keys To Victory: Ravens

Baltimore may have the best ground attack in the league, but look for Zay Flowers to be a major player this week. With Andrews out, the rookie wideout will likely be a main target for Jackson against the worst pass defense in the NFL. Flowers leads the team with 588 yards.

Another key for the Ravens will be the play of their defense - one that leads the NFL in sacks with 44. If they can pressure Herbert and force him into mistakes, Baltimore will have a great chance to win the game and cover the spread. 

Keys To Victory: Chargers

Simply put, the Chargers’ defense needs to be better if they want to compete with some of the league’s best teams – and yes, as he adamantly put it, Staley will continue to do the play-calling. Only the Denver Broncos allow more total yards per game. Los Angeles will need to be at their best if they want to contain Jackson and company.

On the other side of the ball, the offense will be in tough against a stingy Baltimore defense. They will need to avoid drops on easy catches, which cost them last week. It will also be crucial for them to turn red-zone trips into touchdowns, something they were unable to do vs. the Packers.
