David Pastrnak #88 of the Boston Bruins celebrates a disallowed goal due to goalie interference by Jake DeBrusk #74 to Curtis McElhinney #35 of the Carolina Hurricanes during the third period in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2019 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at PNC Arena on May 14, 2019 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Bruins Have the Hurricanes on the Ropes in Game 4

The Boston Bruins have far and away been the better team in the Eastern Conference final, and now the Bruins have an opportunity to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals if they can pick up a win over the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 4 tonight. Sportsbooks opened the Hurricanes as +100 home underdogs with a total of 5.5.

Standout Stats

  • Only four teams in NHL history have lost a playoff series when holding a 3-0 lead, but the Bruins are one of those teams after allowing the Philadelphia Flyers to come all the way back in 2010. The last club to accomplish the feat was the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.
  • Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask has been sensational of late, as the Finn has allowed only nine goals during the Bruins’ six-game winning streak. Rask made 20 saves while shutting out the Hurricanes in the first period of Game 3.
  • Carolina’s power play continues to flounder, as the Hurricanes whiffed on all five chances with the man advantage in Game 3, including four in the first period alone. The ‘Canes are 1-for-12 in the series and 5-for-50 in the postseason on the power play.
  • Boston is on the other side of the fence, going 5-for-12 on the power play in this series.
  • Hurricanes goaltender Curtis McElhinney, who replaced the struggling Petr Mrazek in Game 3 and made 29 saves, will “probably” be back between the pipes tonight, according to head coach Rod Brind’Amour.

My Best Bet for Bruins-Hurricanes

Bruins moneyline

I’ve been betting the Bruins on the moneyline in every game of this series and it’s worked out so far, so I’m going back to the well and backing the B’s in Game 4.

Oddsmakers made the Bruins underdogs for Game 3 but have smartened up to tab them as faves in the fourth game, but I’m more than comfortable taking them at the -120 price. It’s been quite a run for the “bunch of jerks,” but I think Carolina’s season comes to an end in Game 4.

The total has gone UNDER in the Bruins’ last four games on the road.away The Bruins are 8-1 SU in their last nine games vs the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are 3-8 SU in their last 11 games in the playoffs as underdogs.home
