Bruins Seeking Seventh Straight Win Over Western Conference Clubs

Riding a season-high six-game winning streak, the Boston Bruins continue to strengthen their playoff position in the Eastern Conference by beating teams from the West. The Bruins have earned points in nine straight games and resume a five-game road trip in Sin City tonight when they do battle with the Vegas Golden Knights. Sportsbooks opened the Golden Knights as -125 home favorites with a total of 5.5.

Standout Stats

  • The Golden Knights lost for the eighth time in 11 games with Monday’s 3-0 setback to Colorado. In that span, Vegas endured a franchise-record five-game home losing streak before snapping it in a 5-1 win over Nashville last weekend. The Knights are averaging only 2.4 goals per game in February – the ninth-worst mark in the league.
  • Boston’s offense hasn’t missed a beat since losing leading scorer David Pastrnak, as the Bruins have netted 19 goals in the four games without him in the lineup. Bruins defensemen have combined for four tallies and 11 points since Pastrnak went down.
  • Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury is 12-7-4 SU with a 2.43 goals-against average in his career vs the Bruins. Fleury leads the NHL in wins (29) and owns a 2.61 GAA and .908 save percentage in 51 games in 2018-19.
  • The OVER is 4-0 in the Golden Knights’ past four at T-Mobile Arena with an average combined score of 7.3 goals. This season, Vegas is averaging 3.2 goals per game at home. The Bruins have gone OVER in six of their last eight against Western Conference opposition.
  • Vegas is 2-6 SU and 1-7 on the puckline in its last eight games as a favorite. The Knights’ -1.5 puckline is available for a price of +210 at Sportsbook.

My best bet for Bruins-Golden Knights

Bruins moneyline

This one looks like a no-brainer to me. Sportsbooks tend to overvalue the Golden Knights when they play at home due to their dominance at T-Mobile Arena last year, and while they’ve fared well overall in Nevada this season, they’ve been ice-cold at home in recent weeks.

The Bruins are on cruise control right now even without Pastrnak and are 6-0 SU in their past six against Western Conference squads, so it’s surprising to me to see them continue to be tabbed as underdogs. Give me the Bruins moneyline.
