Expert Picks March 6: Leafs Bounce Back After Tough Loss

We've got you covered with three NHL expert picks for tonight, Wednesday, March 6th, 2024. See what picks our NHL expert thinks you should make for the three games on the NHL schedule tonight.

NHL Expert Picks: March 6th, 2024

Buffalo Sabres vs Toronto Maple Leafs
The Game: Buffalo Sabres vs Toronto Maple leafs, 7 PM ET

TeamPucklineTotalMoneyline
Boston Bruins+1.5 (-155)O6.5 (-112)+160
Toronto Maple Leafs-1.5 (+130)U6.5 (-108)-192

Pick 1: Maple Leafs ML (-192)

I know a -192 line doesn't hold a tone of value, but I can't bet against the Leafs tonight. They haven't lost in back-to-back games since mid-January. After that 4-1 beat-down by Boston two nights ago, the Leafs should come back strong to atone for their sins.

Detroit Red Wings vs Colorado Avalanche
The Game: Detroit Red Wings vs Colorado Avalanche, 9:30 PM ET

TeamPucklineTotalMoneyline
Detroit Red Wings+1.5 (-142)O6.5 (-115)+170
Colorado Avalanche-1.5 (+120)U6.5 (-105)-205

Pick 2: OVER 6.5 (-115)

The trends say that this goes UNDER. Colorado is 50% when the total is greater than six at home with a 12-12 record. Meanwhile, Detroit is 5-2 vs the OVER on a 6.5 total or greater on the road.

But look, in all 32 team's last 10 games, the Avalanche have scored the seventh-most goals (36) while Detroit is eighth (also, 36). These two sides score a lot so I'm not ready to follow the trend tonight.

Ottawa Senators vs Anaheim Ducks
The Game: Ottawa Senators vs Anaheim Ducks, 10 PM ET

TeamPucklineTotalMoneyline
Ottawa Senators-1.5 (+142)O6.5 (-122)-175
Anaheim Ducks+1.5 (-170)U6.5 (+102)-205

Pick 3: Ducks +1.5 (-170)

It's a battle of the bottom. The worst team in the Atlantic takes on the worst team in the Pacific. And Ottawa just lost their fifth-highest scoring player in Vladimir Tarasenko. Without Tarasenko and his 17 goals, the Sens lost a necessary weapon to pull away from the Ducks by 2+ goals.

And look, Ottawa suuucks on the road with four straight losses and an 8-18 SU record all season. Taking the Ducks to keep it close or maybe even win is a safe bet.
