The Edmonton Oilers host the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday night.

Oilers Big Favorites Over Visiting Kings

The Edmonton Oilers (16-6-0) are 6-0 SU in their last six home games and 5-0 SU in their last five home games against the Los Angeles Kings (9-9-4). The Oilers will look to extend both of these win streaks this Sunday night in Edmonton.

Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Oilers opened as -192 favorites at home and have since been bet down just slightly to Edmonton -185. Los Angeles is going off as a +165 road underdog and the total in this matchup is set at six goals. The OVER is 6-3 in Edmonton’s last nine games.

Los Angeles News & Notes

Alexander Edler scored the 100th goal of his career on Thursday night, but the Kings couldn’t celebrate the occasion with a win as they fell short in a 3-2 loss at home. With the loss, Los Angeles wrapped up an awful seven-game homestand with a disappointing 1-4-2 record. The Kings have gone 1-7 SU over their last eight games since going 7-0 SU in their previous seven games and 1-6 SU in the seven before that.

Los Angeles has been solid in the defensive zone this season ranking eighth in the NHL in goals against per game with 2.64. Jonathan Quick has turned back the clock on his career with a 2.38 goals against average and a .924 save percentage in 12 games played this season. But with Anze Kopitar getting very little support behind him and the offense averaging only 2.55 goals per game this season, Los Angeles has been prone to these big slumps.

Edmonton News & Notes

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both recorded a goal and an assist in Friday’s road game against the Seattle Kraken, but the Oilers eventually had their three-game winning streak snapped in a 4-3 road loss to Seattle. Edmonton now returns home for a six-game homestand looking to improve on the Western Conference’s best home record.

Draisaitl enters Sunday’s action as the NHL’s top overall scorer with 43 points and its top goal scorer with 21 goals. McDavid isn’t far behind with 16 goals and 42 points. These two dominating the regular season is nothing new, and Edmonton has passed the eye test so far with a 16-6-0 record through its first 22 games. Will this be the season that McDavid and Draisaitl are finally able to translate their regular season success into playoff success? Only time will tell.

How Los Angeles Will Win

Los Angeles backers should strongly considering pairing their upset pick with a parlay on the UNDER. It’s hard to see the Kings keeping pace with the Oilers on offense; their path to an upset almost certainly features a dominant performance in the defensive zone.

How Edmonton Will Win

The Oilers are averaging 4.5 goals per game at home this season and have allowed two goals or fewer in five of their last six home games. As long as Edmonton continues its dominant play at home, the Kings may not have the skill or firepower to do anything about it.
