Mattias Janmark #13 of the Dallas Stars handles the puck against the San Jose Sharks at the American Airlines Center on November 8, 2018 in Dallas, Texas.

Stars Have Won Three Straight As They Host Sharks

The Dallas Stars, happy to get the injured Ben Bishop back in the lineup recently, will turn to Big Ben tonight when the San Jose Sharks come to Big D. This is the second meeting of the season between these teams with Dallas taking the first game of the season series 4-3 on November 8. That game was also at American Airlines Center. The Sharks are a -120 favorite with Dallas coming back at EVEN money. The total is 5.5.

SHARK BITES
  • The total has gone OVER in 12 of the Sharks’ last 13 games vs the Stars (avg. combined score: 6.31).
  • The Sharks are 0-5 SU in their last five games on the road vs the Stars (avg. losing margin: 3.0).
  • Dallas has just one player in the top 50 of NHL scoring – Tyler Seguin is No. 50 (8G 18A).

Sharks Aren’t Land Lovers

Dallas has dominated its Pacific Coast rivals in their last five visits to the Lone Star State, winning all five games, and has compiled a 7-2-1 record in the last 10 meetings overall. As good as San Jose has been at home this season, the Sharks are 5-10 SU and 3-12 ATS away from the SAP Center (It was way more fun when they played at the Cow Palace, by the way).

OVER Bettors Take Note

The OVER has hit in 12 of the last 13 games between these clubs with an average combined score of 6.31. Despite that, the total for this game is sitting at 5.5. If you’d like some more recent data, the November 8 game went OVER the closing total of 5.5 by 1.5 goals.

Additionally, the OVER has hit in seven of San Jose’s last 10 road games with an average combined score of 6.5. Dallas has a 10-15-3 O/U record on the year, but that drastically improves to 7-5-1 on home ice.

Martin Jones gets the start for the Sharks and is sporting a 2.90 goals-against average and .900 save percentage. Both of those totals are the worst he’s had in his six-year career. Bishop is making just his second start since coming off the injured reserve.

My Bet For Tonight

Dallas, gunning for its fourth straight win, has had a solid year to date and I am a believer. I’m taking the Stars as a moneyline underdog pick straight up, and I’ll also be making a win plus OVER 5.5 parlay pick on a separate ticket.
