Sentry Tournament of Champions Odds & Betting Preview

After an extended holiday break, the PGA Tour is back this weekend as the Sentry Tournament of Champions kicks off what’s sure to be an exciting 2018 season.

At Bovada, Jordan Spieth is the +500 favorite, with Rickie Fowler (+700), Justin Thomas (+750), Dustin Johnson (+750), Hideki Matsuyama (+1100), Brooks Koepka (+1200), Jon Rahm (+1200), Marc Leishman (+1800), Patrick Cantlay (+2500) and Pat Perez (+3300) rounding out the top 10.

Thomas is the reigning champion after the American held off a late charge from Matsuyama to notch his first tour victory on U.S. soil. Thomas held a five-stroke advantage with five holes left, but birdied hole No. 17 to win by two shots. The triumph was Thomas’ third in his career, with the other two coming in Malaysia.

The tournament, which takes place at the Plantation Course at Kapalua, kicks off the PGA Tour’s annual Hawaii swing. Thomas’ red-hot start to the campaign began here a year ago, as the 24-year-old proceeded to win the next weekend at the Sony Open. The Sentry Tournament of Champions features a small field of 34 men comprised solely of tournament winners from 2017, so to say it’s an exclusive event would be an understatement.

The fall portion of the season tends to lack star power week in and week out, but it’s a different story for the tournaments that follow from January onward. After all, seven of the top eight in the 2017 final world rankings will be in attendance.

The Plantation Course offers some of the most scenic views in the professional golfing world. The course is relatively easy by PGA Tour standards, but is susceptible to the elements and can be extremely windy at times.
