Excellent Spot to Fade Alcantara

Sandy Alcantara threw a complete game two-hitter against the Mets last time out on just 89 pitches. So it stands to reason that he’ll get some betting looks today, but it’s probably a great spot to fade him. Washington and Patrick Corbin are -225 betting favorites, so we’ll have to find a more creative way to fade the young Marlins pitcher.

Marlins vs Nationals Game Center

Standout Stats

  • Alcantara went eight innings in his first start this year. In the next game, he lasted just four innings. In those four innings, he walked five batters on 93 pitches.
  • In Alcantara’s six starts previous to the complete game, he allowed three earned runs or more five times.
  • The Nationals’ pitching staff has let them down this season, but the bats have been fine. Washington is averaging 5.3 runs per game over its last 10 outings.
  • Over the last seven days, Washington is batting .275 as a team with a .844 OPS. The Nationals are also in the top half of home field offensive production in the National League on the season.
  • The Miami Marlins are hitting .167 in day games. Easily the worst mark in MLB.
  • Patrick Corbin has been outstanding at home. In five starts, opponents are hitting just .192 against the veteran left hander. He has 40 strikeouts to just nine walks.

My Best Bet for Marlins vs Nationals

Nationals Team Total OVER 5

My favorite bet in this game is Washington OVER 5 team total. I’m predicting that Sandy Alcantara will have a tough time rebounding after his first career complete game at the MLB level.

Alternatively, I am also going to play Washington -1.5. This is always a scary bet with the Nats’ bullpen and we saw 22 runs scored between these teams yesterday.

However, I’m looking at the season as a whole and I know the Marlins have won some games, but I’m not ready to call them a good team yet. Their run came against the Mets and Tigers!
