The New York Yankees fell to 0-7 over their last seven games with their 10-3 loss to the New York Mets on Friday night. The Yankees will try to get back in the win column with a victory on the road this Saturday night at Citi Field.
Sportsbook Odds Analysis
The Yankees opened as -120 favorites in this matchup and have moved up slightly to -125. The Mets are going off as +115 home underdogs on Saturday night and the total is set at eight runs. The Mets are 4-1 in their last five games against the Yankees.
Starting Pitchers Analysis
Corey Kluber allowed four hits and two earned runs in 3.2 innings of work last Sunday in New York’s 8-7 loss to the Baltimore Orioles. Kluber has failed to pitch more than four innings in each of his last three starts, posting a 7.59 ERA and a 1.78 WHIP over that three-game stretch. The right-hander is 4-3 with a 3.69 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP on the season, though.
Taijuan Walker got shelled for six hits and six runs across 4.1 innings in his last start against the Washington Nationals. Ironically, this terrible start eventually led to a 13-6 Mets win, snapping a streak of seven straight losses in games that Walker had started. Walker carries a 7-9 record with a 4.15 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into Saturday’s matchup.
New York Yankees News & Notes
The Yankees have been one of the streakiest teams in baseball this season with six losing streaks of four games or more and six winning streaks of four games or more in 2021. New York reeled off 13 straight wins in August to open up a nice lead in the American League wild card race only to lose that lead with a 2-11 stretch over their next 13 games.
The club enters the weekend with a 78-63 record, sitting only a half-game ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays and one game ahead of the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics for the AL’s second wild card spot. The Yankees have been outscored 47-21 over their current seven-game losing streak and are struggling both at the plate and on the mound.
New York Mets News & Notes
Tylor Megill pitched seven innings against the Yankees on Friday night, allowing only two runs and striking out 10 batters. Francisco Lindor hit a home run and collected two runs in the 10-3 Mets win, helping New York snap a two-game losing streak in the process. The Mets are now 9-4 over their last 13 games including a 5-0 record in their last five games at home.
With a 71-71 record, the Mets would be 10 games or more out of a playoff spot in any other division than the National League East. In the East, however, New York is still within striking distance of the Atlanta Braves, entering Saturday sitting five games behind Atlanta in the standings. The Mets visit the Braves for a three-game series in their final regular-season series next month.

The Yankees will snap out of this rut they are in eventually. Until they do, fading them will continue to be profitable, especially at underdog odds.
