Padres are Cashing UNDERs on the Road

The San Francisco Giants haven’t been able to firmly stay over the .500 mark for the majority of the 2018 campaign but will have a chance to accomplish the feat when they renew acquaintances with the San Diego Padres in the Bay Area. Sportsbooks opened the Giants as -141 home faves with a total of 8.5.

Eric Lauer and Dereck Rodriguez are expected to get the ball for the Padres and Giants, respectively. The hurler allowed an unearned run on three hits in six innings in the tilt. The rookie snapped a string of four straight outings without completing six innings in the tilt. Lauer faced San Francisco on April 30 and yielded three runs on seven hits over five innings without factoring into the decision.

Rodriguez (2-1, 4.56) collected his second major league win on Tuesday against Miami when he allowed three runs and seven hits over five innings. The 26-year-old didn’t walk a batter in either of his last two appearances and owns 22 strikeouts against six walks in 23 2/3 total innings. Rodriguez is making his first career appearance against San Diego is 2-0 with a 3.27 ERA in two home turns.

Padres are cashing UNDERs on the road

When the Friars hit the road, low-scoring affairs tend to follow. The UNDER is 9-2 in San Diego’s past 11 road games. Two of the three games in this series have gone below the closing total so far, with the O/U set at 7.5 for the first two games and 8.5 for game three. San Diego went UNDER in each of its three at St. Louis from June 11-13, before going UNDER in three of four at Atlanta from June 14-17. The Padres’ matchup with Oakland on June 19 went UNDER, but the OVER hit in the next game on June 20.
