Mariners Can't Seem to String Together Wins

J.P. Crawford #3 of the Seattle Mariners gets the out at second base of Jurickson Profar #23 of the Oakland Athletics and turns a double play in the bottom of the fourth inning at Ring Central Coliseum on June 14, 2019 in Oakland, California.

The Seattle Mariners have alternated wins and losses over the first seven games of their nine-game road trip and will look to break that trend on Saturday against the Oakland Athletics in California.

Mariners vs Athletics Game Center

Standout Stats

  • Sportsbooks opened the Mariners as +190 road underdogs with a total of 9.
  • Wade LeBlanc will get the start for the Mariners. LeBlanc (3-2, 5.31 ERA) is expected to serve as the opener for the third straight time after making six traditional starts to open the season.
  • The veteran notched a road win against the L.A. Angels on Sunday after giving up two runs and six hits in six innings. LeBlanc is 3-1 with a 3.82 ERA in eight career games (six starts) against Oakland in his career.
  • Frankie Montas will counter for the A’s. Montas (8-2, 2.84) saw his unbeaten streak reach seven starts last Sunday as he earned the victory against the Rangers after allowing three runs and seven hits in six innings.
  • Montas has gone 4-0 with a 2.74 ERA in those outings and is 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA in one start and three relief appearances against Seattle in his career.

My best bet for Mariners-Athletics

Athletics moneyline

Seattle simply hasn’t been able to string together wins of late, as the Mariners are 1-11 SU in their last 12 contests when coming off a win. It’s steep, but I’m on the Athletics moneyline at -210 in this one. Oakland is simply the much better team and the Mariners have become excellent fade material after a red-hot stretch to open the campaign.
