St. Louis Cardinals vs Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers (37-20) will look to keep their hot streak going against the struggling St. Louis Cardinals (25-35) when the teams meet at Globe Life Field on Monday to start a three-game set. Texas is 12-3 in its last 15 outings while St. Louis has one win in its last six games.

The Rangers opened as the home favorite at -125 on the moneyline with the total set at 9.5 runs. Texas has won eight of its last nine games against St. Louis while the UNDER is 7-1 in the last eight meetings between the two clubs.

Starting Pitcher Report: Cardinals 

Adam Wainwright (2-1) is still looking to get into rhythm after making his season debut just a month ago after missing the start of the year with a groin strain. The right-hander was rocked for nine hits and three earned runs in five innings against the Kansas City Royals in his last outing on May 29.

Wainwright owns a 6.15 ERA and a 1.71 WHIP through 26.1 innings of work over five starts. He’s allowed at least four runs in four of five appearances this season and has yet to pitch through the sixth inning.

Starting Pitcher Report: Rangers

Martin Perez (6-1) will make his 12th start of the season for the Rangers, though the left-hander is coming off a brutal month of May. Perez gave up seven hits, two homers and six earned runs in just 4.2 innings in his last outing on May 30 versus the Detroit Tigers.

Perez has a 4.43 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP through 61 innings this season. After a strong start in April, he posted a 6.91 ERA and a 1.72 WHIP over five starts in May.

The Keys to Victory: Cardinals

The Cardinals just dropped three straight to the Pittsburgh Pirates while scoring nine runs in the series. The lack of offense has been an issue for a couple weeks now, though, as St. Louis is averaging just 2.40 runs per game over the last 10 outings while scoring more than three runs just once over that span.

The offense has been running through Nolan Gorman (44 RBI) and Nolan Arenado (38 RBI) almost entirely as the duo has driven in 30 percent of the club’s runs this season. Gorman has four RBI in his last four games and Arenado has three RBI over that span – apparently they’ll have to be even better for the Cards to have a chance.

The Keys to Victory: Rangers

The Rangers own the best offense in the majors at 6.39 runs per game and they’ve been even hotter of late with 92 runs scored over the last 15 days – 15 more than the next-closest team.

Adolis Garcia (51 RBI) has been the club’s top slugger but it’s been Corey Seager and Jonah Heim who have led the way over the last 15 days. Seager’s 20 RBI over that span leads the majors while Heim (15 RBI) ranks fourth.

The Rangers’ bats should be able to pounce on a struggling Wainwright and run up the score again tonight.
