2021 MLB World Series Odds: Dodgers Favored To Repeat

2021 MLB World Series Odds feature the Los Angeles Dodgers atop the board.

With the end of the regular season in sight, the Los Angeles Dodgers remain the betting favorites in MLB 2021 World Series odds.

The Dodgers are +330 favorites to win the 2021 World Series and be the first team to go back to back since the New York Yankees won three in a row from 1998 to 2000. The Dodgers are 93-53 SU through 146 games and oddsmakers see a squad with arguably the deepest roster in MLB, including one of the game’s most potent rotations with several National League Cy Young candidates.

The next teams on the oddsboard are the Milwaukee Brewers (+450), San Francisco Giants (+475), Tampa Bay Rays (+500) and Houston Astros (+550).

Unlike the Dodgers, the Rays have a low payroll, few flashy names and no big-name starters to throw out in a playoff series. Despite an injury to Tyler Glasnow, oddsmakers still see the Rays as a big World Series threat after making it to the Fall Classic last year.

As for the New York Yankees, they are now ninth in MLB World Series odds at +2000 and are jockeying for position in a crowded AL East.

Why Are The Los Angeles Dodgers Favored To Win The 2021 World Series?

Finally getting the monkey off their back and winning their first World Series title since 1988, the Los Angeles Dodgers are primed for another run in 2021.

Even with a rotation that featured Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler and other top arms, the Dodgers were buyers at the 2021 trade deadline. Adding Max Scherzer to an already elite pitching staff and star infielder Trea Turner from the Washington Nationals, the Dodgers improved in all aspects and should continue to flex their might at the plate and on the rubber.

Add Turner to a healthy Mookie Betts, Max Muncy and Justin Turner, who have anchored the lineup for most of the season. The deep squad has been able to overcome injuries to the pitching staff and underperformance from star outfielder Cody Bellinger.

Even with Bellinger missing time, hitting .159 and swatting just nine homers, the Dodgers have one of the highest-ranked lineups in baseball. The Dodgers rank within the top five in home runs, RBIs and on-base percentage.

At +330 in odds to win the World Series, it’s not the best value at this stage to take LA. But if you want a Dodgers ticket, their odds may only get worse and worse.

Can The Surging Blue Jays Challenge For The Title?

No team is hotter than the Toronto Blue Jays. The Canadian squad is 12-2 to start the month of September, including sweeps of the Athletics and Yankees, and posted 47 runs in a 3-1 series win over the Orioles.

With MVP candidates in Marcus Semien and Vlad Guerrero Jr., and a Cy Young favorite in Robbie Ray, the Jays have the top-tier talent to compete with any team in baseball. What has plagued them this season, and why they find themselves fighting for a wild-card spot, are injuries and poor bullpen performances.

But with George Springer back atop the lineup and a seemingly stabilized pen, baseball’s hottest team seems destined for a September run. It is always hard to bet on a potential wild-card team in World Series futures, but if the Jays make it to and out of a one-game playoff, they could present some of the best value in World Series odds.

What Is A Futures Bet On MLB World Series Odds?

When you visit your sportsbook of choice, you’ll see an option to bet on which team will win the World Series. This kind of bet is a futures wager, which means you’re betting on events that will happen in time. Oddsmakers release action on the Fall Classic before the season starts and adjust the lines as teams surge and stumble in the standings.

You would see odds listed like this:

  • Los Angeles Dodgers +375
  • New York Yankees +375
  • Houston Astros +1200
  • Atlanta Braves +1200
  • Minnesota Twins +1500

Unlike a moneyline bet, where there would be a clear favorite and underdog, the team with the lowest MLB World Series odds is the closest thing to a fave. In this case, it’s the Dodgers and Yankees. The team with the highest odds would be the closest thing to a dog. Here, it’s the Twins.

If you were to bet $100 on the Twins at the beginning of the season and they won the World Series, you’d get a payout of $1,600 – your original $100 is returned, along with your winnings of $1,500. On the other hand, the same bet amount on the Dodgers would give you a payout of $475 – you get your $100 back, plus your loot of $375.

Our Odds Calculator can help you determine how much you’d pocket depending on the odds and the amount bet.

The earlier you can make a futures bet the better, because you’ll see higher returns since MLB World Series odds ebb and flow depending on a team’s overall performance, injuries to key staff, and how they stack up against the rest of their division.
