Coca-Cola 600 Betting Preview

Fresh off a run-in with the law Kyle Busch is one of the favorites at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend at the Coca-Cola 600.

Busch made headlines on Tuesday after he was clocked going 128 mph in a 45 mph zone by North Carolina police. NASCAR has Busch under probation for a recent on-track confrontation with Kevin Harvick, but the speeding ticket won't cause him to miss this weekend's race.

If Busch can carry his road speed onto the oval at Charlotte he may record his first win on the track. Busch is the co-favorite with Carl Edwards on the Sportsbook Coca-Coca 600 odds at +550. Busch may never have won at Charlotte but he's come very close on numerous occasions. In his last nine starts at Charlotte he has finished in the Top 3 fives times and he's cracked the Top 10 eight times.

Edwards is coming off a win in last week's All-Star Race, which was also held at Charlotte. Like Busch, Edwards is also looking for his first Cup Series win at Charlotte this weekend. Edwards currently leads the driver standings after finishing in the Top 10 in eight of his last nine starts.

The Sportsbook of last year's Coca-Cola 600 was Kurt Busch, but he's a big underdog to repeat as champion on the Coca-Cola 600 odds at Sportsbook at +2700. Before last year's win at Charlotte Kurt Busch had only two Top 10 finishes in his last nine starts on the track. Kurt Busch has also had a rough time on the circuit lately with only one Top 10 finish in his last seven races.

Jimmie Johnson enters this weekend's race leading all active racers in wins at Charlotte with six. He's listed at +760 on the NASCAR odds at Sportsbook. Johnson has won six times at Charlotte, including taking both races in 2004 and 2005. Johnson's last win at Charlotte came in the 2009 Bank of America 500, but other than that most of his recent starts at Charlotte have been disappointments. Including his 2009 win, Johnson has only four Top 10 finishes in his last 10 races at Charlotte.

Besides Johnson, other drivers in this weekend's field that have multiple wins at Charlotte include Jeff Gordon with five, Mark Martin with four, Jeff Burton and Kasey Kahne with three apiece, and Jamie McMurray with two. From that group Gordon is getting the best NASCAR odds at Sportsbook at +1700.
