Martin Truex Jr. is the favorite in the Xfinity 500 odds for Martinsville Speedway.

Xfinity 500 Odds: Truex Favored To Grab Checkered Flag

We should be in for a fun race Sunday in the final race in the Round of 8 with the Championship 4 next weekend to decide the NASCAR Cup championship. To turn up the heat, the NASCAR Cup Series is visiting the short track Martinsville Speedway and it is Martin Truex Jr. who is the favorite in the Xfinity 500 odds.

Online sportsbook [Sportsbook not available for your region] has released Xfinity 500 odds for this weekend’s race with Truex listed as the +400 chalk. He’s followed by Kyle Larson at +450, Chase Elliott at +600, Denny Hamlin at +600 and Ryan Blaney at +800 to round out the top five drivers on the oddsboard.

Why Is Truex Favored In The Xfinity 500 Odds?

Looking at the NASCAR Cup standings, Martin Truex is currently on the outside of the Championship 4 looking in, sitting three points behind teammate Kyle Busch. With that knowledge in hand, we know that the No. 19 machine will need a strong performance this weekend for any chance to compete for his second championship.

The good news for Truex is that he’s been extremely tough to beat at the “paperclip.” When the NASCAR Cup Series visited Martinsville in April, it was Truex who drove to victory lane and in fact he has won three of the last four runnings at this track. Furthermore, he has finished fourth or better in six of the last eight at Martinsville – he is certainly worthy of being the favorite.

NASCAR Predictions This Week For The Xfinity 500

A short track with the man on the bubble for the Championship 4 holding a one-point edge over the fifth-place driver and only a six-point cushion over seventh spells drama this Sunday. Tempers will be hot and we may see our betting tickets go up in flames as these drivers trade paint all race. Here are my three best bets for this weekend’s race.

Martin Truex Jr. +400: I’ve touched on Truex’s recent dominance at Martinsville, including his victory in the spring race this year. It’s hard to argue with him being the favorite given his track record. Add in his need for a good performance to move on to the next round and I like this wager.

Chase Elliott +600: While Elliott’s Championship 4 position is likely locked up with a 34-point cushion over fifth place, I think there’s good value at 6:1. The reigning Cup Series champion won at Martinsville nearly a year ago to the day and was the runner-up in the spring race this year. He will be starting outside of row 1 when the green flag drops and I think he has a good shot at winning Sunday.

Denny Hamlin +600: Hamlin has a 32-point lead over fifth place to make the Championship 4 so he’s likely safe but a win would lock that up. Denny has five career wins at this track but none since 2015. That said, he’s remained competitive, finishing inside the top five in six of the 12 races at the paperclip since his last win. Additionally, Hamlin led the most laps in the spring race this year (276/500 laps) en route to a third-place finish. I like the odds and starting in third may allow him to jump out in front early and figure out whether he has the car to win.
