The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series returns on Sunday for the Auto Club 400 and Kevin Harvick is the odds-on favorite at +300 to win his fourth checkered flag in a row at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.
Sportsbook Sportsbook has Harvick in the top spot followed by Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. at +400, Brad Keselowski at +800, Joey Logano at +1000, Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin +1200, Ryan Blaney at +1500 and Jimmie Johnson at +2000 rounding out the top 10 on the oddsboard.
Can Kevin Harvick become a part of history?
Harvick claimed his third consecutive win on the circuit this past Sunday at the TicketGuardian 500 and will attempt to become the ninth driver in NASCAR since 1972 to win four straight races.
Harvick now has a commanding lead in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup standings and drivers who’ve won four races in a row have won the championship five of those eight seasons. While the odds are in his favor, it’s worth noting this feat hasn’t been accomplished since Jimmie Johnson did it in 2007, and as you would guess, he went on to win the championship that season.
The driver of the No. 4 Ford Fusion has also done fairly well at this track as he has made the podium three times since 2011, including a top-place finish in 2011.
Is anyone else worth betting on at this track?
Kyle Larson was last year’s Sportsbook and the value at +400 isn’t terrible when you consider he won four races last year and finished third at Las Vegas Speedway two races ago. But with so many drivers to choose from on the oddsboard, it may be best to look down the table if you don’t end up backing Harvick.
This is why Denny Hamlin and Chase Elliott at +1200 may make more sense if you’re looking at the larger odds. Hamlin and Elliott have combined for 31 top-five finishes since the start of last season with Elliott finishing in the top 10 the last two years at this track while Hamlin finished third at the Auto Club 400 in 2016.
