Odds favor Kevin Harvick to win Pennzoil 400

NASCAR Pennzoil 400 Betting Odds and Picks in Las Vegas

The third race of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will get into gear this weekend in Las Vegas with Kevin Harvick as a +500 favorite to take the checkered flag in the Pennzoil 400.

Online sportsbook Intertops has Harvick at the top of the oddsboard followed by Martin Truex Jr. at +550, Kyle Busch at +600, Kyle Larson and Brad Keselowski at +650, Chase Elliott at +1000, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin and Joey Logano at +1400, and Ryan Blaney at +2000 to round out the top 10.

Can Harvick win back-to-back races?

Kevin Harvick is off to a great start this season as he got to the top of the podium at last week’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 and is fourth in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup standings. Harvick managed 15 top-five finishes last season but only won two races in 2017.

He has also won this race in 2015 but at +500, there might be better value for other drivers on the track. Another trend that doesn’t bode well for Harvick is only one driver since 2010 (Jimmie Johnson) has won the second race of the season and then went on to win the third.

Will Jimmie Johnson get his fifth win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway?

Jimmie Johnson is the all-time wins leader at this track and has been a fixture at the top of the NASCAR Cup standings since 2002. Johnson last won at this track in 2010 but claimed the checkered flag three times in a row from 2005 to 2007. While his best days are behind him, bettors can’t be faulted for backing the racing veteran at +1400.

Are there sleepers worth betting on at the Pennzoil 400?

This track has been a tough one for up-and-coming drivers to break through as every winner at this track since 1998 has won previously on the NASCAR Cup circuit.

So, it’s best to look at the familiar faces such as Denny Hamlin at +1400. He should be on bettors’ radar as he finished third at the Daytona 500 and fourth at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. With 15 top-five finishes last season, including two wins, he may be the best bet on the board based on value.
