2022 NBA All-Star Odds Best Bet: Hammer Team LeBron

The best basketball betting sites have Team LeBron as the favorite again this year, and rightfully so. Team LeBron has won the last four NBA all-star games by a combined 39 points, besting Durant, Giannis and Steph Curry.

There’s clearly no other all-star game captain who can match whatever LeBron is bringing to the table. LeBron also dominated the draft this year, at least on paper, selecting the perfect mix of slashers, scorers and guys with something to prove.

With Giannis, LeBron and DeMar DeRozan flying off the wings, Nikola Jokic at center and shooters like Steph Curry and Luka Doncic, Team LeBron can play any style of basketball. Most importantly, however, I love LeBron’s bench with hometown player Darius Garland looking to put on a show for the crowd and underrated stars like Fred VanVleet having an opportunity for a coming-out party.

The only potential mismatch issue I could see for Team LeBron is the size of Team Durant, with Joel Embiid, Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns.

2022 NBA All-Star Game Starting Lineups:

Team Durant:
Joel Embiid
Ja Morant
Jayson Tatum
Andrew Wiggins
Trae Young

Team LeBron:
LeBron James
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Steph Curry
DeMar DeRozan
Nikola Jokic

What’s The All-Star Game Format?

For the past few NBA all-star games, the league has adopted the Elam Ending and some adjusted scoring formats. How the game works now is each of the first three quarters begin with the score at 0-0 and last 12 minutes. At the start of the fourth quarter, the game clock will be turned off and a “Final Target Score” will be set. The “Final Target Score” will be determined by taking the leading team’s total cumulative score through three quarters and adding 24 points. Once the “Final Target Score” is set, the teams will play an untimed fourth quarter and the first team to reach the “Final Target Score” will win the NBA All-Star Game.

This format may sound complicated to a new bettor. However, it can create some epic endings. While the 2021 game was a bit of a snooze, the 2020 game was an epic ending with a furious Team LeBron comeback.

2022 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game Odds:

With stars like Justin Timberlake and Jamie Foxx running up and down the court, the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game is one of the most entertaining features during the all-star festivities every year. This year’s celebrity game will take place on February 18 from 4 to 7 p.m. ET. With four-time MVP Kevin Hart not participating in the game this year, there’s some value to be found in the celeb game MVP odds.

Odds as of February 17 at Sportsbook

Result: Alex Toussaint +2200

Toussaint led Team Walton to victory in the All-Star Celebrity Game this year, scoring 18 points. Toussaint beat out Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett and former NBA player Anderson Varejao for the MVP award.

Best Bet: Quavo (+225)

Quavo finds himself atop the celeb game MVP oddsboard, and rightfully so. Quavious Keyate Marshall won the 2018 Celebrity Game MVP after a 19-point performance and a victory in the game. He played again in 2020, not winning the MVP award, so maybe he comes back this year with something to prove.

If you don’t know how good Quavo is on the basketball court, just check out his playable character in the video game NBA 2K22.

Value Play: Machine Gun Kelly (+1400)

A Cleveland native and Cavs fan, Machine Gun Kelly, or MGK, has the opportunity to ball out in front of the home crowd this weekend. MGK is one of the taller participants in the celeb game and posted a video earlier this week of some solid shooting skills.
