Warriors vs Mavericks Betting Odds November 17

The Warriors have won 10 Straight vs Mavericks

The ongoing drama with the Golden State Warriors may have carried over to the court and after dropping their last game vs the Rockets, bettors will be plenty interested to see how the Dubs respond vs the Dallas Mavericks tonight. The Mavs have won three games in a row but are 6-8 SU in 14 games this season. The Warriors, on the other hand, have won 10 straight games in this matchup by an average win margin of 16.8 points per game.

The Warriors opened as 4-point favorites with a total of 216.

SHARK BITES

  • The Mavericks rank 27th in opponent three-point percentage (37.4 percent).
  • The OVER has hit in 5 of the Warriors’ 7 road games this season.

Drama aside, the Warriors average 118.6 points per game, lead the NBA in three-point percentage (41 percent) and are 12-4 SU in 16 games this season. Their last game vs the Rockets may give bettors pause before wagering on them as they were held to 86 points and only 76 shots which is near 10 shots lower than their average per game. To be fair, the Rockets are very familiar with the Warriors after dueling in last year’s Western Conference Final and were essentially constructed to beat them.

Golden State’s defense has left a lot to be desired this season even with Stephen Curry in the lineup as it allows 110.8 points per game (ranked 17th) and hasn’t forced many turnovers as evidenced by the Dubs ranking 27th in forced turnovers (12.8). They’re also 22-31 ATS in 53 games since the 2015-16 season with Curry out of the lineup and are also not expected to have Draymond Green on the court due to a toe injury.

If Green was playing, I would have liked the Warriors to cover the spread tonight but with both him and Curry out of the lineup, this is a very different Golden State team. If bettors are willing to overlook the absence of the two of the top-20 players in the NBA, they should know that the Warriors have won 10 straight games against the Mavs and are 14-1 SU and 11-4 ATS in the last 15 games in this matchup.

Mavs Defense May Play Right into Warriors’ Hands

Coming off three straight wins, Dallas may be turning the corner in figuring out how to execute the offense. The Mavs have taken down the Thunder, Bulls and Jazz including an incredible 50-point beatdown of Utah. Luka Doncic has been just as advertised coming into the draft as he’s averaging 19 points, 4.2 assists and 6.4 rebounds in 16 games and he'll be leaned on more tonight with Wesley Matthews ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Their big offseason acquisition in center DeAndre Jordan hasn’t moved the needle like it should as the Mavs are averaging 44.7 rebounds per game compared to last season when they only snatched 41.3. This has led to the Mavs ranking 25th in second-chance points allowed per game this season.

Another defensive issue for the Mavericks is defending the three-point line. As good as Doncic is, he and Dennis Smith Jr. are not shutdown perimeter defenders and with no Matthews tonight, Dallas could be in trouble. The Mavs rank 27th in opponent three-point percentage (37.4 percent) which is a death sentence playing against a team like the Warriors. But without Curry and Green, it could be a good opportunity for the Mavs to break the streak so if the line gets closer to 5 or 6 points, I’d jump on Dallas to cover the spread.

Should You Wager on the OVER?

The total opened at 216 and when the Warriors are involved, it’s always good to consider the OVER. The OVER has hit in five of the Warriors seven road games this season with an average combined score of 230 points per game. Considering how poor both of these defenses have played this season and how the Mavs give up so many threes, the total seems low so an OVER would be a great wager.

My Pick Is…

To take the OVER. The Dubs may be in turmoil but it’s not bad enough to think they can’t still hit shots. Golden State will be plenty motivated to avenge the loss to the Rockets and I think the Mavericks will be able to score a ton of points with Draymond Green ruled out.
