Reeling Irish Return Home for Annual Clash with Navy Midshipmen

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will try to rebound from a lopsided 41-8 loss in Miami as 3.5-point chalk, which has bounced them from College Football Playoff contention, when they take on the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. Navy halted a three-game SU slide with a narrow 43-40 win over SMU as 1.5-point chalk last weekend.

Shark Bites
  • Notre Dame is 2-7 ATS in its last nine games against the American Athletic Conference.
  • The total has gone OVER in four of Notre Dame’s last five games at home in November.
  • Navy is 5-1 ATS in its last six games on the road.

Dreams of a national championship for Notre Dame likely ended with last weekend’s loss in Miami. The Irish fell to 9-2 with the loss and have failed to cover in two straight outings, halting a 6-0 ATS run. However, the squad is unbeaten SU in four home dates, and has held opponents to 20 or fewer points in five of six home games this season.

The Midshipmen improved to 6-3 SU with last weekend’s victory over the Mustangs, but have struggled on the road in their past two, covering as 3.5-point underdogs in a 30-27 loss at Memphis last month, and falling 34-26 at Temple as 6-point chalk two weeks ago. However, Navy is 8-3 SU in its last 11 games on the road after losing its two previous road contests.

Notre Dame has largely dominated in annual meetings between these two squads, winning SU in the past three in South Bend, and 16 of 20 overall. However, Navy came away with a 28-27 victory as a 7-point home underdog last year, and has covered in three of the past four.  The total has also gone OVER in six of their past seven dates with the Irish.
